We are continuing to grow our leadership team, and currently are hiring Engineering Managers for our Shared Eng Services teams.
 
• The Backend Platform team at 1Password is dedicated to building and optimizing scalable infrastructure, driving best practices, and supporting the evolution of our backend systems to meet the growing needs of our users. As the Backend Platform Manager, you will lead a team focused on establishing scalable infrastructure and promoting API-first development practices. You will play a key role in breaking down monolithic components and enabling our backend systems to scale efficiently. Your leadership will help shape the future of our engineering practices and support the continued growth and success of 1Password.

•The Test Experience (TestX) team helps our development team test and release the best possible software. Through hands-on testing, helping increase coverage of automated testing, and investigating and reproducing bugs and usability issues, our team plays a critical role in making 1Password the worlds most-loved password manager. We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join the TestInfra squad, within TestX, to work with internal partners to ensure that our products deliver to meet our internal and external customer needs. TestInfra teams mission is to enable effective and efficient testing at scale through infrastructure, frameworks, and tooling at 1Password.

This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.

What were looking for:

  • Experience successfully leading and mentoring a high-performing engineering team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture for at least 3-5 years. 
  • Expertise in deploying and managing containerized applications, automating CI/CD pipelines, and orchestrating complex systems in cloud environments (AWS or GCP preferred).
  • Effectively managed teams within Agile frameworks, promoting iterative development and continuous improvement practices.
  • Deep understanding of Git workflows, enabling seamless collaboration and maintaining code integrity across distributed teams.
  • Strong coding skills, emphasizing the ability to write scalable and maintainable code that supports large-scale production systems. While this role is not hands-on, having experience in this area is essential for success
  • Extensive experience architecting solutions that meet the demands of high-availability environments, ensuring optimal performance and resilience.
  • Committed to creating a supportive team environment, with a passion for mentoring engineers, fostering professional growth and a people-first approach. 
  • Continuously seeks new ideas and approaches that add value to products and processes, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible

USA-based roles only: The Annual base salary for this role is between $187,000 USD and $253,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Passwords benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.

Canada-based roles only: The Annual base salary for this role is between $168,000 CAD and $228,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.

At 1Password, we approach each individuals compensation with a promise of fair market value and internal equity commensurate with experience and specific skill set.

We believe in the power of remote work, but we also recognize that in-person connection is sometimes important to help us achieve our mission. While we are a remote-first company, occasional travel for in-person engagement will be a part of this role. Frequency will depend on role and responsibilities, and may include, but is not limited to, annual department-wide offsites, team meetings, and customer/industry events. These events will typically be held in varying locations across Canada and the US.
