The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
 

As a Toxicologist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Providing toxicology and risk assessment support to 3M consumer and/or industrial businesses.
  • Authoring Chemical Hazard Summaries for human health and potentially environmental requirements.
  • Advocating for alternative chemical selection where possible.
  • Recommending and coordinating appropriate toxicology study placement with internal 3M Strategic Toxicology Laboratory, as well as with 3rd party contract research organizations.
  • Managing 3M databases and documentation for toxicology study archival and retrieval.
  • Actively advising and influencing others on decisions in area(s) of specialty.
  • Establishing extensive corporate interactions and developing a network of support (e.g., technical, manufacturing, engineering, sales, marketing) to facilitate completion of programs with a focus on driving growth and innovation.
  • Collaborating with other Product Safety experts in Environmental Science, Hardgoods, IH, and Chemicals Management to align on prioritization of projects and strategies.
  • Provide guidance, or be willing to learn, how to derive occupational exposure limits as needed.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher from an accredited university
  • Three (3) years’ experience related to the conduct/design of in vitro or in vivo toxicology studies and human health risk assessment in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • PhD, MD, or DVM with 1+ years of experience.
  • Board certification (DABT) is preferred but not required.

Work location:

  • Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to 3M Center, St. Paul, MN for Collaboration Days)

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: Is not authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
