Intermediate UI/UX Designer - Mobile Games (Fixed Term Contract)

We are seeking an Intermediate UI/UX Designer to support our live operations team on a 13-month contract covering an extended leave. In this role, you will collaborate with game designers, engineers, and artists to iterate on existing systems and develop new features for our free-to-play mobile games. Your work will have a direct impact on player engagement, retention, and overall game experience.

Things you will work on

UI/UX Design

• Create mockups, wireframes, and prototypes for new game features and live events.
• Brainstorm user problems and solutions, advocating for continuous improvements in usability and player experience.
• Design and maintain visual elements, including banners, in-game promotions, IAPs, and interface assets.

Collaboration

• Work with cross-functional teams (engineers, designers, product leads) to manage and complete tasks in Asana.
• Support and implement CEO-driven tasks and projects from the Product Director.
• Prepare final assets for production and ensure smooth implementation.

Live Ops Focus

• Enhance and iterate on existing live game systems, incorporating user feedback and data-driven insights.
• Coordinate with the engineering team on asset requirements for Unity/Xcode pipelines.

Knowledge and Skills

• Advanced UI/UX design skills with an emphasis on mobile free-to-play experiences.
• Proficiency with design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe Suite) and ability to learn new software quickly.
• Strong 2D illustration skills and a compelling portfolio showcasing various styles.
• Good working knowledge of typography, color theory, and iconography.
• Understanding of design requirements in Unity/Xcode is highly valuable.
• Experience working in collaborative, cross-functional environments.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities (written and verbal).
• Ability to advocate for user-centric improvements and handle multiple live ops projects simultaneously.

Location
Our roles are currently open to candidates who can work remotely in Canada between the core hours of 11am - 4pm PST. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

Compensation

Compensation is determined by role, level and location. For candidates located in BC, the base salary range for this role is CAD $96,000-$107,000 annually.
