Payroll Controller

We are looking for a fast learner and hands-on Payroll Controller (Workday Payroll Specialist) to join Adyens Payroll team, a dynamic team within our Finance function. As a Payroll controller you will be responsible for processing in-house payroll in the US in Workday Payroll, and coordinating payroll in LATAM / EMEA region for our other entities where we use external payroll providers. 

You would report to the Payroll Team Lead, and be part of the centralized, Amsterdam-based payroll team. You will be based in San Francisco, together with our local HR team.

What youll do

Automation and Scale

  • Be the champion for Payroll automation, data, and scale. Advance organizational effectiveness and solve challenges by tapping into your Payroll expertise. 
  • Support and scale ongoing team projects by working closely with external vendors, and every part of the Finance and HR Team.

Payroll Operations, Data and Compliance

  • Partner internally to manage Payroll compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain, review and validate data for US payroll using Workday Payroll module
  • Collaborate with the accounting and finance teams to provide commentary on the journals and reconciliation (for NORAM and other assigned regions).
  • Participate in audits for 401K, Workers Compensation and general audit
  • You will provide standard and ad-hoc payroll reports to various internal departments such as HR, Finance, Accounting, Tax and Equity
  • You will process payments for final paychecks, adjustments and special pay.
  • Travel to Amsterdam will be required (once / twice a year)

Who you are

  • At least 3 - 5 years of in-house payroll processing experience
  • A Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Workday and Workday Payroll
  • Experience processing equity transaction including RSU and ESPP
  • Demonstrated understanding of US payroll compliance and taxes
  • Youre well-organized and like to solve problems with a pragmatic approach.
  • Youre data driven with an analytical mindset.
  • You have a global mindset, and are able to work across time zones and cultures.
  • You have project management skills, are resourceful, and able to work independently.
