Airbnb’s mission is to create a world where people can Belong Anywhere. As we grow to achieve that mission, we’re looking to add a technical, hands-on, and mission-driven Staff Technical Program Manager (TPM) to the Aircover/Insurance team.
In this role, you will lead complex projects and programs spanning multiple services, functions, and teams. You will keep the big picture in focus while diving into the details to solve unique challenges that arise daily. This highly leveraged role is a force multiplier, driving quality and velocity across cross-functional teams.
As a Staff TPM, you will manage project schedules, identify risks, facilitate trade-off discussions with engineers, and ensure clear communication with stakeholders. Youll also establish repeatable processes to achieve long-term success and operational efficiency.
You excel at bringing clarity to chaos, diving deep into details, and communicating effectively. Your ability to build relationships, inspire through vision, and influence with data will be key to your success.

The Difference You Will Make:
- Technical Execution: Drive the technical delivery of programs, focusing on system design, engineering trade-offs, and feasibility assessments.
- Cross-Team Coordination: Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure the successful development and implementation of technical solutions.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical risks that could impact program delivery timelines or quality.
- Deep Technical Expertise: Understand the underlying technical architecture and contribute to decisions on system design, scalability, and reliability.
- Metrics and SLAs: Ensure technical KPIs and SLAs are consistently met for the programs you manage.
A Typical Day:
- Develop and own technical roadmaps in collaboration with engineering teams.
- Bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring technical nuances are well-communicated.
- Create detailed technical schedules and ensure engineering milestones are met.
- Act as the technical escalation point for program-related issues, driving resolution promptly.
- Drive accountability and ownership in a fast-paced environment.
- Ensure alignment on staffing, priorities, and technical dependencies through structured planning processes.
- Provide visibility into key performance indicators, risks, and opportunities to leadership.
- Increase team productivity by identifying and removing obstacles while keeping processes lean.
Your Expertise:
- 9+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager, or 9+ years of industry experience in technical program management, engineering, or related fields.
- Proven success working with product engineering teams, focusing on end-user products and experimentation.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with platform engineering teams, with expertise in distributed systems and backend infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of experiment-driven development, scalable backend architectures, and data-driven decision-making.
- Highly analytical with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with executives, tailoring content to the right level of detail and strategic context.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional programs across technical and business teams, resolving ambiguity and driving results.
- Proficiency with task management tools such as Jira, Asana, and Airtable.
- Proven ability to influence and motivate stakeholders across all levels of an organization.
- Experience with regulated technology products, such as digital-native insurance platforms and digital payments, is highly desirable.

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
