As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work with a small team of full-stack developers that work on all server-side aspects of smart home security. Our mandate is very broad and includes but not limited to processing security events, provisioning equipment, monitoring station signaling, testing automation and integrating a wide and diverse set of devices with the Alarm.com connected ecosystem. Our software development includes working on backend services, websites, and database design that make up our whole ecosystem.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work across a variety of technical areas. Typical projects will involve diverse technologies and skills, and require close collaboration with device engineers, business partners, and other engineering teams. Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to self-learn are must-have attributes. Candidate must be able to communicate well within a team environment and work independently on self-directed tasks.

WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR ALARM.COM?
- Develop back-end software for a wide variety of platforms and technologies.
- Take part in the entire project life cycle, from requirements development to deployment with lots of cross-team collaboration.
- Engage in the research, evaluation, and application of new technologies and methodologies to solve challenging project goals.
- Exercise good judgment. Know when to work quickly, and when to build a robust solution.
- Bring your ideas! We want our engineers to collaborate on product development, not blindly build to a spec.
WHAT DO YOU NEED?
We are seeking someone who has:
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related field or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- Experience leading and mentoring other engineers
- Strong object-oriented programming skills; C# experience required.
- Experience with database design and development
We would love if you have some of the below (but it is fine if you don’t):
- Experience working with high-availability, high-throughput services
- Experience with external facing APIs and/or third-party platform integrations
- Familiarity with distributed event streaming platforms, such as Kafka
- Experience with JavaScript development using an established JS framework, such as Ember
- Familiarity with IoT protocols such as Z-Wave, ZigBee, or Matter
- Familiarity with Google Smart Home API or similar Cloud to Cloud API.
