The Director PMO is accountable for creating, organizing and implementing project management and program management processes in support of business initiatives. They will be responsible for making sure that the related projects are completed on time and within budget and will drive project management activities and manage an enterprise-wide project portfolio. They will provide oversight to PMO staff.

Job Duties/Responsibilities: 

1. Develops and governs program and portfolio management processes, uses of dashboards, templates, keeping aligned with policies and metrics  

2. Manages project, program and portfolio deliverables and tasks  

3. Leads continuous improvement and process optimization with internal and external stakeholders 

4. Proactively identifies and manages risk, issues, cross-project dependencies, and report a back on project status  

5. Coaches and mentors project managers and other project professionals as needed, sharing knowledge and best practices  

6. Supervisory Responsibilities: This role is the anchor position and is expected to scale a team to meet the needs of the company. Responsibilities include recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; assigning workload; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; and coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees. 

Job Requirements: 

Experience: 

• Required: Minimum 7 years of experience in process improvement and project management with at least 5 years in a leadership role.  

• Preferred: Healthcare or Insurance industry experience  

Education: 

• Required: Bachelors degree or four years additional experience in lieu of education. 

• Preferred: MBA or MHA 

Training: 

• Required: None 

• Preferred: Project Manager Professional (PMP), Six Sigma 

Specialized Skills: 

• Required:  

  • Solid understanding of health plan operations and their impact on financial performance  
  • Ability to communicate positively, professionally and effectively with others; provide leadership, teach and collaborate with others. 
  • Proven ability to develop, implement and manage projects and organizational initiatives 
  • Operational Expertise: Proven ability to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency within a creative environment. 
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to establish and maintain a constructive relationship with diverse members, management, employees and vendors;  
  • Reasoning Skills:  Ability to prioritize multiple tasks; advanced problem-solving; ability to use advanced reasoning to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and design, implement and manage appropriate resolution. 
  • Problem-Solving Skills:  Effective problem solving, organizational and time management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 

Licensure: 

• Required: None 

• Preferred: PMP Certification

Pay Range: $126,422.00 - $189,634.00
