Who You Are:
AI2 is seeking a passionate early-career AI engineer/researcher to help build the next generation of AI for Earth. We are developing a cutting-edge platform for planetary modeling, monitoring and forecasting, leveraging massively multi-modal foundation models to address diverse use cases across land use, conservation, sustainability, climate change, energy, and beyond.
You will collaborate with research scientists and AI engineers to design and build innovative models that harness massive datasets from remote sensing, in situ observations, weather systems, and climate simulations. These models will be deployed in real-world products and applications to create tangible impacts on the ground.
Previous AI interns on this team have published award-winning papers, been recognized by AI2’s prestigious “outstanding internship award”, and gone on to esteemed careers in ML and AI.
We have a beautiful new office right on Lake Union; catered lunches; smart, friendly and helpful co-workers. We are right next to multiple mountain ranges, oceans, and forests, that make for a vibrant outdoor scene.
Ai2 Internship Information:

- Candidates: A PhD candidate or a master/undergraduate student with a strong research and/or AI engineering background
We are currently hiring for start dates in 2025. We will continue to consider applications on a rolling basis but for full consideration for start dates in summer 2025, please apply by January 15, 2025.
Who We Are:
We are a newly formed lean and fast moving AI team exclusively dedicated to building the next generation of AI for Earth. We believe that AI can help solve some of the biggest problems the world faces. We strongly believe in building open and accessible AI. We work collaboratively with the research and engineering teams throughout Ai2, and we deploy our models into production. Most recently we have created and deployed models into many of the applied science platforms (Skylight, Earth Ranger, Wildlands, and Satlas), and plan to expand into many more domains. The models we ship run at global scale in real time and are industry leading and/or industry-first.
We all live in Seattle and we enjoy working together in person, or meeting over coffee. We teach and learn from one another constantly and we help each-other grow. We believe that AI can be a powerful force for good. We want to get great things done and we want to move quickly, because there is an urgency to the environmental threats that our planet is facing.
Your Next Challenge:
You will collaborate with research scientists and AI engineers to design and build innovative models that harness massive datasets from remote sensing, in situ observations, weather systems, and climate research. These models will be deployed in real-world products and applications to create tangible impacts on the ground.
All interns are paired with a mentor and will participate directly in Ai2s groundbreaking work. There are no restrictions on publications based on internships.
