Role Description

The Product and Innovation IT team is dedicated to building, delivering, securing, supporting, and maintaining cutting-edge and innovative applications used by our internal teams and clients. Separate from Enterprise IT, our focus is on internally developed tools using AI, advanced analytics, and other new technologies, as well as maintaining the systems used by our Analytics and Innovation team.

We are looking for a talented and versatile engineer who can perform various tasks such as infrastructure automation and application deployment, as well as supporting our existing systems and platforms. As a member of a small, agile team, you will wear many hats throughout the day and week and should expect to take on various tasks ranging from network administration, application and infrastructure QA, database support, system design, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

Support internal application development and analytics teams by maintaining platforms and tools.
Assist in the design, implementation, and provisioning of servers, systems, and infrastructure for internal and client-facing applications.
Create and maintain documentation for supported infrastructure, applications, and environments.
Assist in designing, building, and deploying POC applications and environments.

Example Projects and Tasks

Assist developers in selecting and testing front-end frameworks for use in deploying an AI-assistant chatbot.
Convert an internally-developed Python tool to containerized microservices and deploy it using internal or cloud infrastructure.
Perform a version upgrade to our internal ArcGIS Enterprise deployment.
Quickly build, deploy, and secure a new server to run a proof-of-concept tool.
Troubleshoot single-sign-on authentication to an internally deployed application.

Qualifications

Required Capabilities

5 years of professional experience required in an IT –focused role; ideally at least 2 years specifically in Systems and DevOps role.
Willingness to get involved in IT/Operations and related processes, with enthusiasm for learning new technologies and helping out anywhere.
Excellent written communication and self-motivation.
Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation) and best practices.
Proficiency in Docker and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
Experience with Linux administration and scripting languages (Python, Bash) and Windows administration and scripting (PowerShell).
Strong understanding of version control systems (Git) and collaborative development practices.
Strong understanding of cloud services (AWS, Azure).
Understanding of basic and advanced networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, network segmentation and security).

Desired Capabilities

Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and tools.
Experience with administering, configuring, securing, and maintaining Windows server environments (Active Directory) and Microsoft 365 services.
Experience working with Azure AI and related platforms (Copilot, Cognitive Search, ML Flow).
Experience working with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and frameworks (Angular, React).
Experience configuring, maintaining, and optimizing databases (SQL, PostgreSQL) and data warehouses (Amazon Redshift).
Exposure to analytics platforms (Databricks) and GIS platforms (ArcGIS).
Solid understanding of network and application security principles and best practices, including Public Key Infrastructure.

Compensation: $110k-$150k + performance bonus
