  • 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
    - 3+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience
    - Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
    - Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
    - Experience automating and configuring systems using the Desired State Configuration (DSC) in a large enterprise environment

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.     The Kuiper Devices & Systems (KDS) team manages client and server devices, including physical, virtual, and cloud systems, to ensure compliance, security, and productivity for all internal Kuiper devices. We work in a fast-paced environment where innovation and automation are key to scaling our operations and supporting Kuiper’s mission to connect the unconnected.

    We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated System Development Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in Mobile Device Management (MDM), Client Fleet Management, and Microsoft Intune. In this role, you will focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining the systems and tools required to manage and secure a diverse fleet of client devices. You will also play a pivotal role in driving automation, scalability, and operational excellence.

    Key job responsibilities
    - Provision and manage AWS infrastructure, including EC2, CloudFormation Templates, and Load Balancers.
    - Work with a wide range of technologies, and AWS products.
    - Build enterprise-grade AWS application environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
    - Architect and setup infrastructure on AWS GovCloud.
    - Analyze and support setup of new device connectivity to enterprise applications and services.
    - Drive automation of routine tasks to help scale the operations.
    - Fleet Management: Implement scalable solutions for managing endpoints, including configuration management, patching, imaging, and reporting.
    - Automation: Create and maintain scripts and tools to automate device management tasks and improve operational efficiency.
    - Security Compliance: Collaborate with security teams to ensure device configurations comply with internal policies and industry standards (e.g., STIG, NIST).
    - Operational Excellence: Monitor and improve the health, performance, and reliability of device management systems, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
    - Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Networking, Identity Access Management, and Security, to deliver seamless device experiences.
    - Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including SOPs, design documents, and operational runbooks.

    The Kuiper Devices & Systems (KDS) team manages a global fleet of devices, ensuring security, compliance, and performance. Daily tasks include monitoring fleet health, addressing incidents, deploying updates, and refining imaging and provisioning workflows. They prioritize security, conduct regular audits, and remediate vulnerabilities to meet standards like FIPS and NIST. Focused on continuous improvement, the team enhances processes, documents workflows, and explores new technologies to optimize device management and user experience.
