Job Description:

The Acquisition & Customer Marketing (ACM) team within the International Card Services Centre of Excellence (CoE) drives market success across a portfolio of 23 international markets. The way we acquire, onboard, and grow engagement with our prospects and cardmembers across ICS is more important than ever to continue to enable the strong trajectory of ICS and growth contribution to American Express.

The role of Manager – ICS Investment Optimization Strategy will report into Director – ICS Investment Optimization Strategy. This role will be responsible for overseeing and re-imagining our acquisition investment engine, optimizing for efficiency and ROI, to ignite the next frontier of growth for AXP.  The scope of this role includes supporting on defining a strategy and roadmap to enhance our Investment Optimization (I/O) ecosystem in close partnership with Finance, Risk, EDDS, Analytics and our Market partners. In addition, this person will lead performance insights for monthly leadership updates and be the subject matter expert within ACM and the wider CoE on latest acquisition performance trends, performance drivers and big bets.   

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Lead relationships with market partners on behalf of ACM to develop performance commentary and insights, crafting stories to support understanding of ICS performance drivers
  • Support regular IO planning processes and senior leadership updates, through analysis and insights reviews with market partners and finance
  • Identify and evaluate unfunded opportunities to drive ICS towards its long-term acquisition goals
  • Act as subject matter expert to support IO process improvements, collaborating between markets and finance to support strategy and roadmap to drive better investment decisions in the near and long term
  • Evaluate ongoing performance of existing investments, generate market/channel/product level insights, and surface trade-offs that challenge the status quo
  • Develop a robust communications plan and ecosystem between market acquisition teams, Finance, and other key partners to ensure transparency and clarity

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strategic thinker who can synthesize complex dynamics, isolate key questions, structure and organize work to analyze and propose solutions to solve key business challenges.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships, influence senior leaders and stakeholders, collaborate across a cross-functional team, and build followership
  • Highly curious & analytical individual who craves data to surface insights and inform and develop business strategy.
  • Impactful and efficient communicator with ability to simplify complex messages into clear and actionable recommendations and confidently deliver to executive level audiences
  • Strong work ethic with comfort working in a dynamic, collaborative, fast-paced, global team
  • Strong grasp of Card issuing P&L levers and business dynamics
  • Proficiency in excel and ability to build powerful PowerPoint decks leveraging data for storytelling
  • Strong communication skills, proven ability to deliver impactful presentations to senior leadership

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
