Digital Medicine, Senior Manager
What you will do

In this vital role, you will spearhead our digital medicine initiatives to engage patients in novel ways and recruit them into clinical trials, as well as conduct clinical trials more efficiently using decentralized clinical trial (DCT) elements. These approaches can impact a wide range of potential trials, from those aimed at regulatory approval to those aimed at rapidly generating evidence to meet the needs of prescribers and payors.

We are seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial Digital Medicine, Senior Manager, who will be pivotal in integrating digital health technologies into our patient engagement and clinical trial strategies, driving innovation, and improving patient outcomes. The role reports to the Executive Director of Digital Medicine and resides within the Office of the Chief Medical Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead efforts to introduce decentralized clinical trial elements into a wide range of clinical studies, including associated novel approaches to engage patients and recruit them into Amgen trials. These could include: Linking participant data with real-world data (RWD) such as electronic health records (EHR) and claims data; providing trial activities at non-traditional sites, including virtual visits, use of retail pharmacies, or home visits; using digital health technologies (DHTs) to capture patient-generated data, ePROs, eCOAs
- Work with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Access & Use Evidence Generation, Safety and Pharmacovigilance, Medical Affairs, Commercial, Product Teams, Regulatory & Supplier (Vendor) Qualification as appropriate
- Collaborate with Medical Directors and Digital Medicine leadership in setting priorities for clinical study design that incorporate Digital Health Technologies
- Lead or collaborate in clinical protocol writing, and shepherding new protocols through internal approval and governance processes
- Apply experiences and lessons learned to contribute to new SOPs for DCTs
- Share expertise with internal leadership and stakeholders to help shape new initiatives in patient engagement, patient recruitment, and clinical trial execution using digital technologies
- Identify and evaluate vendors experienced in providing DCT services to other biopharma companies and ensure they meet rigorous vendor qualification standards
- Contribute expertise to efforts related to novel ways of engaging with and recruiting trial participants in online communities

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 2 years of experience in digital health in the biopharmaceutical industry or equivalent health sciences field.
Or
Master’s degree and 4 years of experience in digital health in the biopharmaceutical industry or equivalent health sciences field.
Or
Bachelors degree and 6 years of experience in digital health in the biopharmaceutical industry or equivalent health sciences field.
Or
Associates degree and 10 years of experience in digital health in the biopharmaceutical industry or equivalent health sciences field.
Or
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of experience in digital health in the biopharmaceutical industry or equivalent health sciences field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive experience using digital elements in clinical trials at biopharmaceutical companies, Contract Research Organizations, or both
- Familiarity with digital health tools such as mobile health apps, wearables, and telemedicine platforms
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance implications of using digital health technologies in biopharmaceutical clinical trials
- Proven track record of successfully leading digital health initiatives in a biopharmaceutical or healthcare setting
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
- Experience with data analytics, machine learning, and AI applications in healthcare
- Strong network within the digital health ecosystem, including technology and service providers

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
