The Communications team are seeking a highly motivated, driven IC Layout Engineer to provide support to our Advance Cores Group in the Communications business unit, located at ADI’s Ireland site (Limerick, Dublin or Cork). We create the building blocks, (High speed DAC’s, ADC’s, PLL’s, etc.) and the fully integrated IC’s for many of today’s and our future communication needs, 5G, 6G, Base stations, Microwave, Aerospace and much more.
In Ireland, we currently have a team of 27 IC Layout engineers from 1 year college grads to 35 years of experience, all working cohesively together as individuals and teams in creating these next generation IC’s. We have an 18-week Layout training program that will initially help you gain the skills and knowledge in this chosen field to contribute your and ADI’s future success. Our goal is to learn and share knowledge, to collectively create these next generation products more efficiently.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Layout of integrated circuits including the ability to place and route active and passive devices.
- Chip floor-planning and top-level integration.
- Perform DRC (Design Rule Check), LVS (Layout-Vs-Schematic) and a multitude of functional checks, using layout verification tools.
- Some software tools used, Cadence; Virtuoso, Siemens; Calibre.
- Learn and share knowledge.
Minimum qualifications
- A background knowledge on semiconductor devices.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross functional teams remotely and face to face.
- Good problem-solving skills are essential, identifying gaps and providing optimum solutions.
- Willingness and ability to learn something new.
- Innately curious with a desire to understand and improve methodologies.
- Has a bias for action and works in collaboration with others to deliver results.
- Comfortable taking calculated risks.
- High tolerance for ambiguity.
- Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux operating system.
- Scripting skills in PERL or SKILL or similar are considered a plus, but not required.
Preferred qualifications
- BE/BSc Electronic Engineering or equivalent
