Research, define and design high performance PMIC’s applicable to automotive industry. Develop requirements and specifications of the IC’s. Responsible for simulation, layout guidance and verification, characterization, and release to production of automotive integrated circuits. Analyze and develop circuit, system and controller architectures; transistor-level analog and power circuit designs for high voltage and low voltage DC/DC Converters. Responsible for Verification of circuit (IC) performance using Cadence tools. Supervise layout engineers to implement IC’s using layout techniques to account for IR drop, RC delay, electromigration, self-heating, coupling capacitance, STI/WPE/LU/ESD/SOA. Characterize and validate circuit (IC) performance in the lab using lab tools such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters (DMMs), electronic loads and spectrum analyzers. Support Test development and volume production. Perform AMS/System Verilog simulations for mixed signal verification. Analyze customer failures to determine root cause. Communicate with other designers in an effective manner.

Partial telecommute benefit (2 days/week work from home).

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field of study (or foreign education equivalent) and 4 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer or related role performing Analog/Power circuit design and mixed signal verification simulations.

Or, in the alternative, Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field of study (or foreign education equivalent) and 2 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer or related role performing Analog/Power circuit design and mixed signal verification simulations.

Special Skills:

Must also possess the following:

Demonstrated Experience (“DE”) in Transistor level design for BJT/CMOS devices involving high voltage and low voltage BUCK, BOOST, BUCK-BOOST and isolated DC-DC converters including designing analog building blocks: bandgap references, op-amps, OTAs, bias circuits, comparators, amplifiers, oscillators, DACs, level-shifters, switching power stages, LDOs, and charge pumps etc.; designing system and controller architectures;

DE with tools such as Cadence IC design tools: Virtuoso, Spectre, AMS/System-Verilog modeling for mixed-signal verification; Simulation and analysis for DC/ transient/ frequency responses, gain and output resistance, transconductance (gm), CMRR/PSRR, dominant pole compensation etc.;

DE in schematic design, circuit simulation, component selection, placement, matching and basic DRC checks for layouts, post-layout extraction simulation techniques and hardware implementation;

DE in evaluating circuits using lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, current probes, electronic loads, power supplies and multimeters; validation testing (electrical stress and de-rating, worse case conditions, no load test, reliability prediction, thermal test, failure mode effect analysis, loss estimations) and debugging of circuits on the bench; and

DE in generating and presenting design review documents at peer review meetings using adept documentation and communication skills; taking ownership of projects from start to finish; working independently and in team environments
