Applied Materials Global Sourcing and Procurement (GSP) is a global support organization that enables the purchasing of the indirect goods, services, and contingent workforce required for Applied Materials to operate smoothly and support our end customers. As a Commodity Business Manager (CBM), you will be a part of GSP’s Sourcing & Category Management Organization. You will lead and execute all aspects of the category management and sourcing process, including opportunity assessments, negotiations, RFx, supplier relationship and risk management for the Lab Equipment category.
You will partner with stakeholders to develop 1-, 3- and 5-year strategies around Applied Material’s vision and supplier partnerships.
You will be directly involved in the delivery of large capital projects and act as an advisor on commercial terms and sourcing methodologies. You will make recommendations based on your assessment of the market and provide business intelligence to your stakeholders that help drive project decisions.
You will be a part of a global team supporting Applied Material’s multibillion-dollar R&D platform to accelerate semiconductor innovation.
You will learn Applied Material’s overall businesses and become a trusted advisor to partner with and guide our internal customers in their sourcing decisions. You should understand markets, the supply chain, and how the company business works to ensure that risks are mitigated and make sure the company survives extreme volatility in commodities. You will perform detailed spend analysis and study trends to identify and solve potential supply chain problems, and continually seek new opportunities for innovation.
Responsibilities:
Lead a global Lab Equipment category portfolio, serving as SME and escalation point to avoid operational disruptions.
Negotiate and manage strategic supplier relationships for Lab Equipment.
Develop and manage global category strategies aligning the supply base with the end vision and needs of internal business owners.
Effectively communicate updates and decision levers (including budgeting information) to executives in a cross-functional and rapid environment.
Perform extensive data analysis utilizing financial and technical acumen to identify scalable opportunities for deeper cost savings.
Manage up to $300M global spend with annual YoY underlying profit impact.
Lead global, cross functional teams focused on continuous supply base efficiencies, risk mitigation, speed to market and cost control.
Lead RFx creation/management, supplier communications, market research/analysis, data collection/analysis, and contract management, development and redlining (pricing, terms and conditions, SOWs, MSAs, etc.).
Thought leader within a cross-functional team tasked to transform global enterprise P2P operations, supply chain resilience, sustainability, and supplier diversity.
Develop and maintain positive business relationships with key stakeholders and budget owners and collaborate in a personable, approachable manner.

Experience:
Minimum of 10+ years of procurement experience with 5+ years of relevant global category management and strategic sourcing.
Preferred Qualifications: BE/MBA degree or equivalent. Engineering degree is desired.
Deep category insight of Lab Equipment. Semiconductor Industry experience is desired.
Proven experience partnering with executive sponsors and business leaders to develop category strategies and drive continuous improvement through global, cross functional teams.
Proven experience leading cross functional teams through complex strategic sourcing initiatives end to end.
Consulting and advisory experience is a plus. Knowledge of Lab Supplies is a plus.
Experience working within a highly virtual team, ability to leverage technology and influence appropriately in a remote or globalized working environment.
Experience working on a global scale with a variety of cultures as well as tax, financial controls and government regulations.
Familiarity with procurement software (such as Ariba, ServiceNow, SAP), approval workflows, purchasing policy development and contracts.
Excellent Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills.

$108,000.00 - $148,500.00The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
