About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Lead Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our dynamic Quality Engineering (QE) team. As a key player, you will collaborate across the organization to ensure that our platform consistently delivers top-tier performance, reliability, and usability. Your mission will be to foster a quality-driven culture, driving continuous improvement and innovative testing practices that ensure exceptional product outcomes.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the development and execution of test strategies, plans, and automation efforts to ensure the highest standards of quality across all platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with development, product management, and Site Reliability teams to integrate quality into every phase of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Continuously improve testing processes to maximize efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability.
  • Oversee both manual and automated test design and execution across various platforms, ensuring seamless product functionality and performance.
  • Serve as a bridge between our Quality Engineering team and the Development, Product, Technical Project Managers, and the Site Reliability teams, aligning efforts to achieve shared quality goals while fostering a culture of growth and continuous learning.
  • Work alongside SREs to integrate platform-wide automated tests within CI/CD pipelines for continuous delivery.
  • Track and report key quality metrics such as defect rates, test coverage, and release readiness to drive data-driven improvements.
  • Perform hands-on testing for complex, high-priority areas to ensure flawless execution.
  • Stay current with the latest software testing tools, methodologies, and industry trends, introducing best practices and innovations to elevate team performance.

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering with at least five years of focus on software testing and quality assurance. Prior experience in a leadership role is a significant plus.
  • Proven track record as a Lead SDET or Quality Engineer focusing on frontend (UI) and backend (API) automation testing.
  • Deep understanding of software testing methodologies, tools, and processes, including both exploratory/manual and test automation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including experience conducting root cause analysis (RCA) for customer-found defects.
  • Experience implementing and optimizing various testing techniques such as unit, component, integration, end-to-end, and performance testing.
  • Expertise with JavaScript/TypeScript and/or Python.
  • Solid expertise with cloud platforms and testing frameworks like Pytest, Cypress, and Playwright. Prior advanced experience with Jest is a plus.
  • Ability to apply best practices and coding standards, with a solid understanding of programming languages, network and functional design, algorithms, and architecture patterns.
  • Strong technical acumen, including experience with tools like IDEs, debuggers, build tools, source control, CI/CD pipelines, and Linux/MacOS system administration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical details and analyses across distributed teams.
  • Experience driving cross-functional technical discussions and a deep understanding of SDLC concepts.
  • A commitment to lifelong learning and professional development, demonstrated by continuous adaptation to emerging technologies and challenges.
  • Prior experience with behavior-driven development (BDD), the Cucumber framework, and the Gherkin language is a significant plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent industry experience.

Our total rewards package includes the following:

  • Base Salary: The annual base salary compensation range in the U.S. for this role is: $132,414-$182,070. Final offer amounts are determined by factors such as the final candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience, as well as business considerations and peer compensation.
