Introduction to the job
Light sources are critical to secure the performance of ASML’s machines. ASML is developing and manufacturing special optical fibers that are essential to secure functionality of these light sources. We are seeking for a team lead.
Your main tasks include the technical and organizational steering of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers in an agile environment (SAFe way of working), to manage the collaboration between the ASML location in Erlangen, the headquarters in Veldhoven (The Netherlands) and our technology partner, the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light. You provide clear communication to stakeholders (management, project) including data analysis of fiber manufacturing yield, identify key gaps of the process status quo to industrialization targets and a breakdown of work packages to close gaps.
Role and responsibilities
- Work in an agile (SAFe) environment with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, engineers, potentially operators, project leads and management. A substantial part of the job is to lead the team. This includes
- Maintain & develop a high-performing team, perform capacity planning, intake of new work, create a 6-quarter plan and plan features/stories for the coming quarter on the right level of detail.
- Take ownership of current and projected fiber fabrication yield vs demand
- Contribute to the breakdown of development work packages.
- Manage the collaboration with local ASML Erlangen team, Veldhoven headquarters and local technology partner. Organize re-occurring alignment meetings (e.g., Steering Committee meetings)
- Get rapidly proficient with various stages of the fiber drawing process, starting from raw material characterization, preform assembly, to drawing fibers. Use your technical acumen to give guidance to the team and bring in your own ideas.
- Occasional work in a high-tech fiber manufacturing facility (clean room) may be needed.
- Embrace development of new fibers and glass components to secure the roadmap.
Education and experience
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Physics, Material Science, or a similar technology field
- Process engineering experience in industrialization/fabrication of high-tech components.
- 2y+ experience in a high-tech environment and in leading teams
- Ideally experience as Product Owner/Scrum Master and/or Team Lead
- Affinity with optical fibers and ASML products
- Excellent knowledge of the English language. Experience in German is an advantage.
- Demonstrable, practical experience in the following fields would be a plus:
- Specialty Fiber drawing & characterization
- Clean room work
- Yield analysis in manufacturing (e.g., Statistical Process Control, 6sigma)
- Data analysis (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Excel)
- Jira
Personal skills
- You are willing to be part of a high-performing team, in which we highly-value trust and follow a common mission.
