About this Role
BlackRock’s SMA Solutions business is seeking an Associate Portfolio Manager – Values-Aligned Implementation (APM-VAI) to join our Portfolio Management team.
The APM-VAI will be responsible for values-aligned portfolio construction and rebalancing as well as investment strategy analysis. Our portfolio managers work with portfolio risk and optimization technologies. Ideal candidates must have excellent problem-solving capabilities, a high degree of attention to detail, and strong organizational skills. The position requires solid verbal and written communication aptitude and the ability to work directly with clients on complicated tax- and risk-modeling problems. The APM-VAI must be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a time-sensitive environment, be able to take initiative, and be comfortable taking on responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
• Use quantitative risk models and optimization programs to analyze and manage values-aligned direct indexing equity portfolios
• Conduct quantitative analysis to support values-aligned investment strategy development
• Collaborate with values-aligned team to analyze and implement customized values-aligned solutions
• Support recurring ESG data updates and general strategy management tasks
• Work directly with clients to implement values-aligned strategies in their portfolio, including consideration of portfolio tax and risk implications.
• Develop robust understanding of internal values-aligned data infrastructure, tools, and workflows
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance processes and drive team initiatives
• Develop expertise in SMA Direct Indexing values-aligned offerings and support core Portfolio Management team on values-aligned inquiries
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field
• 3+ years of relevant work experience
• Strong interest in values-aligned investing; experience working with ESG data is a plus
• Excellent analytical, technical, and quantitative skills
• Strong Excel skills; experience working with large data sets is preferred
• Acute attention to detail and proofing
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, VBA, Power BI is a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Familiarity with multi-factor risk models
• Knowledge of securities markets, products, behavior
