The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Systems DevOps Developer to join the Network Tools team in support of Network Automation in Seattle, WA; Berkeley, MO; or North Charleston, SC.   

Boeing Information Technology (IT) is seeking a talented and experienced Systems DevOps Developer to join our innovative team! In this exciting role, you will lead the design, development, deployment, and integration of automation solutions that enhance the reliability and sustainability of our network infrastructure. You will also define the strategy for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and shape the future of our Network Tools portfolio.

We are looking for a candidate with a deep understanding of traditional networking concepts—including technologies, architecture, and security—along with strong experience in managing network infrastructure. Proficiency in developing and deploying automation solutions using various programming frameworks is essential. As a Systems DevOps Developer, you will facilitate collaboration among cross-functional teams, including developers, operations specialists, and stakeholders, to optimize the incremental development and continuous delivery of automated solutions while ensuring high software quality.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead collaboration with teams of Network Designers, Software Developers, Information Security, Customer Stakeholders, and vendors using core principles of the DevOps methodology to optimize the development, delivery, and governance of automation solutions for the enterprise

  • Identify, standardize, and implement best practices related to the DevOps lifecycle and drive the transformation of network teams to improve communication and collaboration between designers, developers, and stakeholders

  • Lead the design, documentation, and maintenance of IaC initiatives, network device standards, inventory management, software versioning, and policy compliance to improve network operations

  • Lead the development, testing, deployment, and integration of scalable and secure automated software solutions and determine the appropriate processes for continued integration and continued deployment (CI/CD)

  • Build and ensure the compliance of various complex systems consisting of both Boeing developed applications and Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products

  • Lead the setup of application environments and the deployment of application devices. Develop the best practices/methodologies for provisioning, platform scaling, configuration management, monitoring, and troubleshooting

This position is hybrid. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience with integrated network design, deploy and operational support

  • 5+ years of experience with Development Operations (DevOps)

  • 5+ years of experience developing software for automated solutions

  • 5+ years of experience with scripting programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or similar

  • 5+ years of experience with DevOps software including Gitlab, Ansible, Terraform, Jira, Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub, AWS CodeBuild, AWS CodePipelines, AWS CodeGuru

  • 5+ years of experience in communications, networking, and protocols (e.g., Transport Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), File Transfer Protocol (FTP), Extensible Mark-up Language (XML), Javascript Object Notation (JSON), Yet Another Markup Language (YAML), Wireless Access Protocol (WAP))

  • 5+ years of experience working with Linux and Unix environments

  • Experience with the maintenance of Cisco switches, routers, wireless, command line interface and network protocols

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • CCNA, CCNP or other Cisco Certification

  • Experience supporting and maintaining large-scale production applications or products

  • Experience containerization and cloud orchestration tools (Tanzu, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker)

  • Experience with various database technologies – Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server

  • Experience with ServiceNow and understanding of available opportunities for system integration

Summary pay range: $123,250 – $179,400
