Job Summary
The VP, Global Infrastructure Services (GIS) will be an influential leader across the enterprise. He/she is responsible for engineering and operations of global infrastructure services that include cloud as well as on premise computing, network, and telecom. This person leads a global team to deliver service in 40+ countries.
What Software Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health
Information Technology oversees the effective development, delivery, and operation of computing and information services. This function anticipates, plans, and delivers Information Technology solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value.
Cloud Engineering analyzes the financial, operational, and technical feasibility of adopting external cloud based IT software, platform and infrastructure services. This job family evaluates the costs and benefits of cloud, virtual private networks, dedicated housing, and in-house solutions and identifies portions of the organization’s IT infrastructure with the highest potential return for cloud deployment. Cloud Engineering also manages the implementation of cloud services and their integration with in-house applications and systems, coordinating with vendors and adhering to engineering best practices.
Responsibilities
Responsible for leading the design, development, implementation and support of the technology required to achieve the companys business objectives
Demonstrates knowledge of cloud native architecture and how to attract, develop and retain talent for this discipline
Demonstrates knowledge of network and telecom technologies
Demonstrates knowledge of artificial intelligence for operations (AIOps)
Demonstrate knowledge of agile development methodology and product teams
Demonstrates general understanding of hardware/software platforms including but not limited to operating systems, databases, application servers, web servers and integration technologies
Plans and executes system implementations that ensure success and minimize risk of system outages or other negative production impacts
Demonstrates problem solving ability that allows for effective and timely resolution of system issues including but not limited to production outages
Analyzes production system operations using data to determine root cause analysis to identify and drive change that ensures continuous improvement in system stability and performance
Demonstrates knowledge of working in a global company and with teams in multiple locations
Qualifications
Bachelors and Advanced degree in related field or equivalent work experience preferred
15+ years experience in related field preferred
Ability to set direction for the organization and influence others to achieve vision
Capable of leading large geographically dispersed teams
Ability to manage a large operational and R&M budget
Experience with mergers and acquisitions (M&A)
Strong vendor management and negotiation skills
Ability to influence and work across the entire organization
Ability to manage numerous competing priorities across a broad range of technologies and disciplines
Enjoys learning and desire to keep current on quickly evolving technologies
Ability to attract, develop and retain top talent and develop leaders

Provides leadership and direction for multiple operational units or disciplines through; Directors may manage Managers
Manages an organizational budget
Approves significant policies and procedures that will result in the achievement of organizational goals
Develops and implements functional and/or operational strategy
Decisions have a serious impact on overall success or failure on area of accountability and external stakeholders
Interacts with all levels of internal and/or external leaders
Influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance
Anticipated salary range: $172,900 - $265,950
