Global Reconciliation Utility (GRU) provides a streamlined operating model that delivers a scalable and controlled service offering, supporting reconciliations across the Operations balance sheet globally. GRU supports products across variety of lines of business, such as, Services (Security Services, and Trade and Treasury), Markets, Lending, Private Bank, Wealth. While GRU provides robust ongoing reconciliation controls, it also drives Continuous Improvement across Manual Touch Points (MTPs), Change Management across automation, and provides Completeness Control for Enterprise-wide bank cash balance sheet. As part of Citi’s wider simplification strategy to gain agility to adapt to the accelerating pace of change across the industry and Citi’s businesses, Citi is moving to a single Strategic Ledger platform. This will provide single source of books and records, and streamlined Finance processing and controls.
Strategic Ledger Implementation & Governance Reconciliations Lead will be part of the GRU’s Strategic Ledger Implementation team. The team is responsible to perform end-to-end impact assessment of Strategic Ledger migration on the reconciliations, and to ensure Strategic Ledger provides all the required data without compromising reconciliations downstream. As such, this will require review of reconciliations landscape across operations Lines of Business (LOB), and coordination and partnership with stakeholders to design and map end-to-end processes and flows of transactions/events/journals to ensure appropriate impact assessment is completed. This entails close partnership with Change Management, Finance, and other Balance Sheet and Control teams. Post impact assessment, one will have to provide requirements to the Strategic Ledger Program (SLP) to ensure reconciliations don’t lose any critical data points, integrity, and subsequently there’s no increase in Manual Touch Points (MTP). Once in the implementation stage, participate in the working groups, testing, analysis and ultimately successful migration.
The Strategic Ledger Implementation & Governance Reconciliations Lead stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide and influence others, in particular colleagues in other areas. They provide advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Their work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and perform impact assessment of the Finance’s Strategic Ledger migration on reconciliations and associated Balance Sheet and Control functions (such as, balance sheet completeness controls and Balance Sheet Exception Reporting (BSER).
- Partner with Global Reconciliation Utility stakeholders across Operations and Finance, among others.
- Perform data analysis ensuring completeness of the impacted scope.
- Map out process/transaction flows end-to-end with the migration impact assessment as the target.
- Work closely with reconciliation production support (i.e., Run The Bank) teams to ensure all requirements are captured and met to ensure reconciliations maintain their integrity.
- Prepare and document requirements, communicate them to Strategic Ledger Program for incorporation. Ensure requirements are met or an acceptable alternative is in place.
- Oversee and participate in testing of the implementation.
- Track and report progress updates and ensure clear and concise metrics are prepared and communicated to management internally and externally. Oversee appropriate reporting is prepared associated with escalations and status updates on different frequency basis.
- Ensure issues are reported, profiled, and escalated appropriately.
- Direct the identification of risks which impact project delivery and ensure mitigation strategies are developed and executed when necessary.
- Create and manage project milestones with the associated business goals. Organize tasks and deliverables accordingly.
- Lead the facilitation, coordination, and arbitration of cross-functional macro level topics within and across project.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) representative of reconciliations and provide guidance and support to the respective stakeholders and the team internally. Serve as a strategic partner.
- Participate, contribute and drive strategic efforts of the team to drive improvements and reduction of Manual Touch Points in the processes. Apply big-picture and strategic view mentality.
- Work closely with Technology team to ensure any enhancements and/or fixes are appropriately submitted, tested, and released. Apply comprehensive understanding of reconciliations while partnering with reconciliations teams.
- Responsible for detailed analysis of issues and validation with proactive approach to coordinate resolution.
- Apply knowledge of reconciliations and balance sheet substantiation process to suggest any resolution steps where applicable.
- Influence decisions through advice, counsel and/or facilitating services to others in area of specialization.
- Apply creative thinking, subject matter expertise and problem solution skills to re-mediate discrepancies by working individually, with the team or by partnering with other teams.
- Understand how areas collectively integrate with each other.
- Provide value-added perspective or advice that contributes to the development of new techniques and change-the-bank initiatives. Demonstrate an ability to lead projects and offer innovative solutions.
- Stay abreast of developments within the function and consider its implications for own job and the broader business strategy.

- Any other duties as required to meet business needs.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience
- Strong understanding (Subject Matter Expertise) of reconciliations and ledger/balance sheet processes is required
- Business analysis skillset is important
- Experience in ledger migration efforts in particular is beneficial
- Experience and understanding of end-to-end flows across settlement processes within operations functions is very beneficial
- Project management skills are strongly preferred with strong skillset in preparing decks/updates
- Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills are required. Oracle a plus.
- Ability to consistently work to a high level of accuracy is crucial
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to recognize key issues / implications and to escalate in a timely manner are critical
- Experience in Change Management or equivalent functions
- Self-motivated and proactive with strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical - strong interpersonal skills are critical, ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, ability to influence across teams and levels
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
