Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?
At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.
To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.
Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.
Team/ Role Paragraph: The Security Compliance Analyst will sit within the Security Compliance (SecCom) team, one of several sub teams within the larger Security Governance, Risk and Compliance org. SecCom builds and operates various programs aimed at documenting, communicating, testing / validating IT controls and related requirements in partnership with 1LOD control owners. SecCom facilitates audit initiatives from both internal and external audit partners and reports out on the state of our control environment. This role will focus primarily on supporting the rollout and operationalization of a recently chartered Continuous Control Monitoring program which is aimed at enabling continuous, automated testing of IT controls, with specific focus on technical design and deployment of said automated monitors.
What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
- Partner with information security partners to analyze CB security control objectives and index affiliated control implementations occurring across all relevant technology surfaces
- Partner with control owners across the product, security and eng orgs to capture and document clear control monitoring requirements aimed at detecting conditions where controls fail to operate from either a design or operations perspective with consideration for key control attributes (e.g., scope, frequency, pass/fail conditions, violation ownership).
- Assist with the design and operation of a process to monitor violation management activity (e.g., remediation, acceptance, management responses) for compliance with defined SLA’s. This process should favor use of tools and automation wherever possible to reduce the need for manual intervention to enable more scalable violation lifecycle management (i.e., notifications, escalation, etc)
- Produce documentation including both technical (e.g., monitor design/data flow) and procedural runbooks that outline key program processes and outputs.
- Advise, support and coordinate with internal engineering resources dedicated to monitor design and development
- Contribute to and maintain a program project plan which outlines both current and planned work. Solicit status from various stakeholders and periodically report out on progress in both live and asynchronous formats employing thoughtful escalation if/where needed
- Define and rollout program reporting which is tailored to various CCM stakeholders and levels (e.g., Sec/Eng leadership, control owners, audit partners, risk)
- Define and operate a process which enables control owners to self-service onboarding controls to the CCM program while ensuring adherence to key program requirements and guardrails. Develop and deliver training materials to educate control owners on the control monitoring lifecycle and aforementioned onboarding process.
- Deploy and operationalize a service desk which enables partners and stakeholders to submit key requests of the monitoring program (i.e., new monitors or updates to existing monitors)
- Support assessments of and responses to inquiries into the state and operation of the CCM program (i.e., regulatory exams, audits, RFPs) and maintain process and narrative documentation describing the same
- Communicate progress, escalations, and issue resolutions to management and team stakeholders

- Ability to effectively and autonomously accomplish outcomes across cross-functional teams in ambiguous situations with light supervision
- Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
