Compensation includes a base salary of $192,800.00 - $321,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position Overview
The family office investment function is a dynamic and growing team that oversees and manages family investments. We seek a talented, seasoned investment professional to join the team. The Director will be an integral part of the investment team and ideally will have had experience across multiple asset classes. This detail-oriented individual will have a wide range of responsibilities across the investment function, including but not limited to assisting with strategic asset allocation, overseeing investment managers, conducting fundamental analysis and research, and preparing recommendations for the investment team and the Investment Committee.
The position reports to the AVP of Investments. This individual must be resourceful, hard-working, and have a strong service mindset. He/she will be a partner and collaborate with other disciplines in the family office, including tax and generational planning, trust and fiduciary, financial accounting and reporting, legal, and family services. In addition, he/she will build relationships with other internal Cox teams, external investment managers, and service providers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitoring and evaluating the performance and risk exposures of external OCIOs and investment managers.
- Conducting ongoing due diligence and monitoring of investment managers across all asset classes; identifying areas of underperformance and working with the team to identify options to improve performance.
- Preparing for and participating in regular meetings and conference calls with external investment partners; composing comprehensive reviews, analyses, and commentary.
- Conducting trust investment portfolio reviews, developing or updating investment policy statements, making required changes to the portfolio, and ensuring policy compliance.
- Producing investment analysis, recommendations, and executive materials for presentation to the Investment Committee and family members.
- Working with the team to develop and maintain reports that analyze fund and portfolio-level exposures (including asset class, sector, geography, underlying positions, etc.), risk metrics, liquidity, and performance attribution.
- Remaining current on new managers and developing trends by attending conferences, annual meetings, and building and maintaining a well-developed network of contacts within the investment community.
- Expected to lead by example through unquestionable integrity, dedication, quality of work product, and mentorship.
- Completing and reviewing legal documentation, including subscription agreements and investor questionnaires for private investments.
- Perform other duties as assigned for the efficient operation of the team.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in related discipline (finance, accounting, economics, or mathematics) with strong academic achievement, and 10 years of finance or business experience, preferably in an investment-oriented role. The right candidate could also have a master’s degree and 8 years of finance or business experience.
- Professional designations such as CFA or CAIA preferred
- Fundamental understanding of capital markets, investment principles, and related financial metrics
- Experience working with taxable and tax-exempt investment clients
- Understanding of fiduciary investment standards and processes
- High degree of proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with Bloomberg, Morningstar, Addepar, and Canoe a plus
