Compensation
Compensation includes a base salary of $87,200.00 - $130,800.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Cox Enterprises is seeking an energetic individual for the Senior Tax Analyst role. The position emphasizes state income tax and offers exposure to a wide variety of state areas, including compliance, audits, planning, and provision. The individual will gain knowledge of all of Cox’s lines of business and collaborate with many groups within the Tax Department.
Responsibilities:
Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the Company’s state income tax function using strategic and analytical skills.
Research/model issues that arise as part of state income tax planning, transactions, audits, compliance, and legislative changes
Prepare/review responses for state audit information requests and notices, review audit reports, and model settlement scenarios.
Prepare/review and file the Company’s state income tax returns and payments, including managing external service providers and/or contractors.
Prepare/review multi-state and unitary apportionment, including planning and transactional impact
Support acquisitions through state tax diligence and integration activities
Maintain Tax Filing Calendar to ensure timely, complete, and accurate tax filings
Calculate estimated payments and extension payments
Collaborate with internal Company departments and state
Departments of Revenue to provide/gather data and resolve issues as needed.
Work on various projects related to newly created, dissolved, or acquired entities
Qualifications
Minimum
Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 2-4 years of experience in tax. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree in accounting and 2 years’ experience in tax.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and tax return preparation software (OneSource)
The use of technology tools (such as Alytrex, UIPath, etc.) is a plus
Strong analytical, technical, written, and oral communications skills
Ability to lead, manage, and prioritize multiple assignments and projects; resolve complex tax issues and consistently deliver a thorough and accurate work product with great attention to detail
Demonstrated performance as a team player, highly motivated, and a self-starter
