Job Description:

The Infrastructure Engineer, Workload Automation, works on holistic engineering deliverables across different stages of the Scheduling Product lifecycle and determines technology patterns for the overall solution. This role actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.

The scope of the Infrastructure Engineer role includes building, managing, and supporting Control-M and IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS) platforms running enterprise processes around the clock. The role is responsible for maintaining and promptly addressing security and compliance objectives for the platform. Ability to adapt to fast-paced environment and work with your Product Owner on completing priorities is pivotal to the success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, maintain, and administer Control-M and IBM Workload Scheduling servers and agents, their Linux operating systems in on-prem and AWS cloud environments.
  • Set up alerts and monitors to proactively detect platform failures
  • Work with your team to automate and orchestrate platform installation and maintenance
  • Ensure high-availability and sizing of scheduling servers through applying infrastructure engineering best practices and utilization of trend analysis
  • Collaborate with developers and business users to ensure Control-M and IWS jobs meet business requirements.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve system hardware, software, and networking issues; and provides status reports to management.
  • Track and optimize product license usage and work with the manager to acquire additional licenses.
  • Ensure platforms’ compliance with PCI and SOX regulations. Address security volnerabilities and participate in annual compliance audits.
  • Participate in support rotation supporting scheduling platforms. Take calls initiated to resolve issues pertaining to platform performance and availability and chronic scheduling issues.
  • Develop, test, and implement job scheduling policies and procedures.
  • Create and maintain documentation for platform operation and best practices for platforms’ customers
  • Participate and contribute during team’s Agile ceremonies such stand-up and user story refinement
  • Achieves product commitments (and influences others to do the same) by using informal leadership & highly developed communication skills and contributes to or led technology communities
  • Uses automation, system tools, open-source solutions, observability and security first principles in daily work
  • Contributes to team agile ceremonies, leads demos and presentations, helps new engineers learn established norms
  • Initiates high level solution design approaches, and guides team to achieve desired key software delivery capabilities using automated, coded enterprise and observability
  • Participates in internal speaking and advocacy events
  • Supports research activities to adopt new technology solutions in ways of developing new capabilities
  • Continues professional education and creates opportunities for core product teams to learn engineering best practices
  • Coaches immediate chapter and actively fosters the adoption of new technologies

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:

  • Bachelors – Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics, Information Security, Information Technology or related
  • 3+ Years – (Software) Engineering, DevOps or related
  • Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale

Preferred Qualifications

If we had our say, we’d also look for:

  • Experienced with migration between scheduling tools  
  • Proficient in UNIX, and Linux
  • Experience working in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) 
  • Experienced with Orchestration with orchestration tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Teraform
  • Proficiency in Scripting (Batch/Shell/Java Script).
  • Experience in programming languages (Unix scripting, Python, Java, etc…)
  • Experienced in other technology tools and stacks such as CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub, Spark, and Open Source
  • System Architecture experience

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $86,500.00 to $146,100.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
