About the Role

DoorDash is seeking an Associate, Policy Communications to help craft and support proactive and reactive communications campaigns to advance our public policy objectives and tell the story of DoorDash’s positive impact in communities across North America. Reporting to the Head of Policy Communications and serving as a key member of the Public Affairs team, you’ll manage media relations; work closely with internal teams and agency partners to execute communications plans; and help shape DoorDash’s policy communications strategies locally and nationally.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Help develop and manage impactful communications campaigns that advance our public policy priorities at the municipal, state, and federal levels - working closely with regional public affairs managers.
  • Help manage our response to media inquiries regarding public policy priorities and regulatory issues that impact the company and our mission to empower local economies.
  • Draft, edit, and manage earned and owned communications materials including statements, press releases, pitches, public testimony, blog posts, coverage reports, and media lists to support a wide array of public affairs campaigns.
  • Collaborate with agency partners and cross-functional teams across the company - including Policy Development and Research, Government Relations, Public Engagement, Social Impact, Legal, Finance, and Internal Communications - to coordinate and execute proactive and reactive policy communications plans.

We’re excited about you because…

  • You have 3+ years of experience in communications or public affairs and have a bachelors degree or higher.
  • You have experience crafting and executing proactive and reactive communications campaigns that advance strategic narratives and objectives.
  • You are interested in public policy issues, with an understanding of how to reach lawmakers and shape public opinion.
  • You are nimble; enjoy fast-paced, dynamic environments; and are familiar with or interested in technology-related issues.
  • You are a strong writer, able to simplify complex issues into clear, compelling messages.
  • You collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.
  • You are self-motivated with excellent project management and people skills, able to handle multiple time-sensitive tasks under tight deadlines.
  • You take your work, but not yourself, seriously—and maintain a good sense of humor about both.
