About the Team

Our Platform Sales Engineering team is responsible for the adoption and growth of Platform solutions with our hundreds of thousands of SMB restaurants in the US (SMB defined as =< 150 locations). This sales engineering team partners with our Account Development (sales reps) team to understand the first party (i.e. online ordering) growth goals of our restaurant customers and tailors our many solutions to meet their needs.

About the Role

As a Platform Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting sales reps in handling any and all technical or product questions and blockers in the sales cycle. You do this through joining sales calls with merchants, deeply understanding their business and technology stack, and creating and communicating solutions that align the merchants needs and goals to our Platform offering. This position will report to the Team Lead, Platform Sales Engineering. This role will be a remote job but must be based inside the US. Close proximity to a DoorDash Office is preferred.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Drive sales — assisting in qualifying and closing deals from a technical standpoint, collaborating with sales and development partners.
  • Become a subject matter expert - on the Platform product including how it integrates with various different software vendors.
  • Create and deliver customized product demos and proof of concepts -  to showcase the DoorDash Commerce Platform’s capabilities.
  • Influence the product roadmap - by aggregating merchant feedback calls that will help determine the direction of the roadmap.

We’re excited about you because…

  • You love to learn about new technology and features and can simply explain how complex systems work.
  • You are resourceful in finding answers to non-standard questions by smartly searching available resources and running your own tests and deductions.
  • You are able to problem solve effectively and efficiently matching appropriate solutions for each merchant scenario.
  • You seamlessly collaborate with sales team members and understand how to assist and accelerate the sales process.
  • You have a minimum 2 years of sales engineering, pre-sales solution consulting or related roles experience.

In addition we prefer candidates with…

  • Experience writing SQL queries involving one or more joins for data retrieval and analysis. DoorDash has abundant data that can be very helpful to pull insights relevant to selling Platform and troubleshoot issues.
  • Familiarity with web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with the ability to understand basic website structure and functionality. Online Ordering ecommerce experiences are core to the Platform offering and customizing the user interface is a key talking point as part of the sales process.
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs including navigating JSON data and basic experience with tools like Postman or similar for testing API endpoints. These concepts are necessary to help determine potential solutions and troubleshoot data integration issues with restaurant POS systems.

We expect this position to be filled by 3/18/2025.
