Summary

We are looking for a Regional Packaging Engineer/Scientist to support and improve our packaging standards, strategies, and compliance across our three businesses: Industrial Solutions, Interconnect Solutions, and Semiconductor. You will work closely with our Product Stewardship and Regulatory (PSR), Procurement, R&D, Operations, Business Leaders, Manufacturing Technical, and external partners to ensure that our packaging meets our customer needs and regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Work closely with our integrated operations lines of businesses to facilitate the development and improvement of product packaging standards, regulatory compliance, and standardization across all sites in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Drive packaging engineering, operations, and compliance activities, providing ongoing support to the LOB Site Packaging Teams, PSR, Procurement, EHS, Business Supply Chains, Customer Service, Legal, and Logistics.
  • Remain current on megatrends in packaging technology, including regulatory & compliance, sustainability, and engineering requirements, to meet global demands and key initiatives while driving cost and productivity improvements where needed.
  • Frame & monitor the regulatory packaging requirements & compliance obligations (i.e., reporting) in all our Asia Pacific regions.
  • Develop a packaging change management process and support LOB teams in delivering 100% compliance with packaging change management.
  • Manage project priorities to ensure appropriate and timely allocation of engineering resources and lead the continuous improvement of our processes for managing and improving packaging.
  • Evaluate and mitigate packaging risks to the business and work closely with suppliers to deliver quality packaging that meets our business goals and objectives while meeting existing and new regulations.
  • Collaborate with packaging industry associations, vendors, and partners to identify and establish relationships to facilitate the exchange of best practices and knowledge sharing.
  • Perform Packaging Specification Reviews and Approvals, where necessary.
  • Work closely with DuPont Procurement in second sourcing and/or Supplier tensioning efforts. Visit, on-board and qualify new strategic packaging manufacturers to improve supply-chain resiliency.
  • Modernize the legacy/aged E&I Packaging portfolio’s, reduce SKU proliferation, analyze why we use what we use, and propose sustainable and price-attractive solutions with Procurement Leaders.
  • Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for chronic packaging issues.
  • Support Supplier Corrective Action Responses (SCAR) for all Packaging Suppliers, where necessary.
  • Work closely with DuPont PS&R and external regulatory agencies to ensure we meet industry requirements.

Critical Success Factors & Core Competencies:

  • Strong proficiency in English with excellent communications and reporting skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with shifting and competing priorities.
  • Strong teamwork and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Six Sigma methodology.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Access DB and Word), SharePoint, Salesforce.com, SAP, LIMS, etc.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or master’s degree in Packaging, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of previous packaging engineering experience, with FDA experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of packaging technologies in the industry (e.g., HDPE, Glass, metal, Corrugated, Flexible Film, etc.).
  • Ability to champion change in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.

Preferred Experience:

  • ISO and/or IATF Quality experience.
  • Background in regulatory compliance (e.g. Extended Producer Responsibility), including interpretations and action planning.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black belt certification.
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator.
  • Working knowledge of UN Dangerous Goods and the requirement/impacts on packaging.
