Position Overview:

Dutch Bros is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Product Management to lead a dynamic and growing Product team.  Acting as the customer and Broista advocate you will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to define and prioritize features with the mission of providing a best-in-class experience for our customers, Broistas, and everyone who engages with our brand. 

The Director of Product Management will lead the strategic vision and execution of our technology driven product initiatives within the technology organization. This role focuses on key areas such as marketing technology, digital solutions, payment systems, field technology, and customer experience. 

The Director of Product Management will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that product development aligns with the overall vision and objectives of the organization and business stakeholders.

As a key member of the technology leadership team, the Director of Product Management will play a pivotal role in defining product strategy, prioritizing initiatives, and managing the product lifecycle from ideation to launch, maintenance and retirement. The Director of Product Management will be responsible for fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the technology product team. 

This role requires strong strategy and leadership skills, plus a deep understanding of the food and beverage industry and a track record of delivering innovative products that enhance customer engagement and operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Job Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in the QSR, Retail or Technology industry required, preferably with experience in digital products

    • Including 3-5 years Product Management experience using Agile/Scrum methodology, required

  • Bachelors Degree in a Related Field (Business, Business Information Systems, Information Technology, Marketing, etc.), preferred.

  • Expertise in product management and product development life cycles.

  • Deep understanding of product strategy development and road mapping tools.

  • Experience with market research tools and techniques.

  • Ability to translate business needs into actionable product requirements, while also condensing complex technical concepts into non-technical language for stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of data analysis and reporting tools.

  • Experience with consumer-facing mobile application development and retail technologies, preferred. 

  • Experience with Customer Engagement platforms such as Loyalty, CDP, CRM, Marketing Automation, Messaging, Online Ordering, POS, Payment Services, etc., preferred.

  • Experience with UI / UX design, and product management tools such as G Suite, JIRA, Figma, Lucid, etc., preferred

  • Experience managing product development for in-house and SaaS solutions, preferred

  • Certifications in product management are a plus

Location Requirement: 

This role is located in the Greater Phoenix area. This position is required to be in office 4 days per week (Mon-Thurs); Fridays are optional remote work days.

Lead Product Organization in Delivery of Technology that Enhance Our Customer and Broista Experiences:

Product Strategy Development:

  • Define and communicate the product vision and strategy for products.

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align technical product initiatives with overall business goals and market opportunities.
     

Product Roadmap Management:

  • Define Develop and maintain a comprehensive product for IT solutions across digital ordering, customer loyalty, shop technology, mobile apps, delivery integrations and payment systems.

  • Ensure timely delivery of products by working closely with engineering, design, and marketing teams.

Team Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Build, mentor, and manage a product management team, providing guidance and professional development.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the product team.

  • Work closely with cross functional business and technology teams to ensure successful product development and launch.

  • Facilitate communication between technical and business stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity.
     

Performance Metrics and Reporting:

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and impact on business outcomes.

  • Regularly report on product performance, insights, and recommendations to executive leadership.
     

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage the product budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to meet strategic objectives.

  • Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies that enhance product development and performance.

Lead creation, delivery and execution of the Product roadmap:

  • Plan and coordinate all aspects of product releases, including new product and feature rollouts, bug fixes, and system enhancements, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to end-users.

  • Work with cross functional teams to develop release strategy – inclusive of implementation plans, training materials and release notes for new releases, features, and functionality

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define test plans, conduct user acceptance testing, and gather feedback to refine product features and ensure high-quality deliverables.

  • Oversee definition of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor the effectiveness and adoption of technical solutions. Analyze data and generate reports to identify areas for improvement and inform future product enhancements.

  • Ensure appropriate ceremonies are implemented across Product team, i.e., standups, grooming sessions, prioritization/iteration planning sessions, product demo, and retrospectives

  • Produce and maintain documentation related to managed systems including roadmaps, SLA targets, knowledge base articles, features, releases, data flows, functional specification, troubleshooting, support, training, etc to be consumed by internal teams

  • Serve as the escalation contact for vendor partners owning engagement between partners and stakeholders, escalation of support issues, and collaborating to resolve technical issues

Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement by evangelizing guiding principles, best practices and strategies for a growing Product team:

  • Mentor and collaborate with the Product team to develop the competency of technical products.  Guide junior team members in strategy, alignment, analysis, and execution tasks

  • Participate in the development of the framework, continuous growth, and operating model of the Product team

  • Contribute to learning activities around modern agile design and development core practices 

  • Participate in talent acquisition, development, and retention activities in support of team

  • Work with the cross-functional teams to continuously assess progress, disseminate lessons learned, and understand next steps to foster a fail-safe environment for all

Physical Requirements:

  • In-Office Environment: Must be able to work in a busy, crowded, and loud office with frequent distractions and interruptions

    • Must be able to collaborate in-person with occasional impromptu in-person meetings 

  • Office Conditions: Adaptability to typical office conditions, which may include exposure to air conditioning, heating, artificial lighting, and varying noise levels

  • Mobility: Ability to sit, stand, reach, twist, stretch, and work at a desk for long stretches.  Must be able to occasionally move or lift office items up to 25 pounds

  • Hearing Requirements: Hearing must be sufficient or correctable to ensure clear understanding of spoken information, including participating in virtual meetings and phone calls. Use of hearing aids or other assistive devices is acceptable if needed.

  • Reading and Writing Proficiency: Ability to read and write in English is essential for processing documents, drafting reports, and following up on necessary actions. Proficiency in written communication is required to handle job-related tasks effectively.

  • Vision Requirements: Vision must be adequate or correctable to perform essential job duties, such as reading documents on a computer screen and using other visual tools. Use of corrective lenses or other measures to meet visual requirements is expected if needed.

  • Technology Proficiency: Must be proficient in operating a computer and other office productivity tools such as printers, scanners, and collaboration software. 

  • Effective Communication: Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, clients, and other stakeholders via email, video conferencing, and other in office communication tools.
