Reporting directly to our Co-Founder & Chief Medical Officer, the National Medical Director exercises extensive independent judgment in the planning, developing, implementing, and administering of medical programs.
This position requires up to 25% travel, strong leadership and organizational skills, ability to work from a home office or clinic office location, and demonstrated ability with clinical expertise, clinical workflow design and implementation, change management, people management, financial management and quality of care management.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct community member care for 20% of your time; administrative leadership 80% of your time
- Provide direct oversight and support as well as prioritize and delegate work of Regional Medical Leaders and National Supervising Psychiatrists
- Develop and implement the national recruitment, engagement, retention and training strategy for the medical team
- Establish medical program objectives, goals, and priorities and determine operating policies and implementation methods within the context of overall company policies and guidelines
- Monitor regulatory and industry-changes and revise medical policies and workflows as necessary to ensure regulatory compliance, highest quality care and competitive advantage
- Conduct team meetings and conferences with cross-functional medical, clinical and administrative leaders to discuss operating problems, organization, budgetary matters, personnel matters, technical problems, and the status of programs and projects
- Be accountable for national performance on medical care team well-being, quality of care, care model fidelity, clinical outcomes, medical team utilization, productivity and health equity
- Lead cross-functional strategic projects to design and improve enterprise-wide medical workflows
- Serve as the principal liaison to various functional departments
- Champion and support change management initiatives for clinical and operational changes
- Serve as subject matter expert for data, product and technology strategy and implementation
- Engage in thought leadership and external representation of Eleanor Health
- Cultivate and nourish strategic external partner relationships
Youll be a good fit if you:

- Hold an active, unencumbered medical license in at least one state (one of our states is preferred, but not required. Will need to be willing to become cross licensed across all markets)
- Are Board Certified in Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry or have at least 10 years experience providing SUD care
- Have practiced direct clinical care in the last 5 years
- Have expertise in managing co-occurring complex medical, mental and social health conditions in individuals with SUD
- Have at least ten years experience in a medical leadership role
- Have lead teams of 15 or more clinicians
- Are passionate about data-driven performance management
- Have experience in an integrated physical/mental healthcare setting
- Have held responsibility for clinical and financial performance of a medical program
- Have experience overseeing multi-state medical care delivery
- Are passionate about empowering clinical team members to understand and meet/exceed care delivery and financial performance expectations
- Have experience serving on interdisciplinary teams and enjoy working in a collaborative environment
- Enjoy finding opportunities to improve processes, working cross-functionally to develop solutions, and communicating those opportunities to peers & leaders in an actionable and collaborative way
- Enjoy owning strategic cross-functional projects from idea to execution to continuous improvement
- Are skilled at delegation

The compensation offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.
