All About The Role

You will enjoy a global team on the first line in the definition of the Taste Consumer Experience on the way to make sustainable eating the preferred choice. As a Cooking Science Expert, you will analyse appliance performance test evaluations. You will use your cooking knowledge to translate input of consumer needs into technical specifications. You will then ensure testing of key performance functionality and compliance with these defined technical standards. You will seek to provide performance improvements and innovation proposals. You will manage project target definitions, test plan, and result analysis interacting with Project Leader and involved stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

Drive product development in relation to cooking performances

Evaluate performance feasibility of technical solutions

Translate consumer needs into project performance targets

Develop technical specifications to evaluate appliance performance considering:

Company mission

National and international test institutes

Location relevant cooking use-case expertise

Test methodologies of other laboratories

Create performance test plan, and manage the testing schedule

Provide guidance on performance testing and evaluation to team members

Provide expertise on claim and messaging creation and substantiation; within team, group, and external test bodies/universities

Scout and validate innovative cooking features and or service functionalities.

Execute tests and evaluate results

Document and present results and conclusions to relevant stakeholders (e.g. Product Line, R&D Architecture, Product Experience, Marketing, etc)

Support other R&D departments in relevant testing (e.g. product lifetime, cost & quality activities, benchmark activities)

Experts may hold additional responsibilities in support of location management

Provide improvement proposals in the Way of Working

Ensure compliance with work environment and safety regulations.

Support internal and external events (cooking demonstration)

Approach in a sustainable way both development and way of working

Specify required equipment and ensure maintenance and calibration

Qualification:

Educational Requirements

Master’s Degree in Food Science, Technology, or Engineering (or equivalent)

PhD is a plus

Deep knowledge in Food related regulations and standards.

Knowledge in food transformation related to cooking processes.

Testing methodologies (DOE, statistical methodologies…).

Knowledge of ISO9001 fundamentals (specially intended for laboratory applications)

6sigma Green/Black Belt is a plus.

Kaizen certificate is a plus.

Project management related studies is a plus.

Experience and Skill Requirements

Minimum 5 years of experience in R&D in the field of food preparation appliances and applications or food industry

Experience in preparation and cooking of food.

Food Testing and evaluation.

Open minded. You appreciate the privilege of working in an international environment, global team and are respectful of different cultural backgrounds.

Basic knowledge of electrical laboratory and test execution

Problem solving skills to overcome obstacles. Critical thinking.

Ability to work in a matrix organization including remote interaction.

Product/food demonstration and public speaking skills.

Ability to conduct a meeting and work cross collaboratively

Technical report writing skills.

Understanding and knowledge of consumer test institutes and reviews

Proficient on Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word

Chef or restaurant experience is a plus

Project management related experience is a plus

Ability on MS Project is a plus

Language Requirements

Fluent in English and Chinese; other languages (German, Italian, Portugese) are a benefit.

cooking performance development compliant with project targets. Manage own activities with little guidance. Approach and challenge daily work with continuous improvement mindset. Lead definition of test plan, test procedure and in general deliverables ensuring coordination with rest of the team and compliance with company strategy.

You will be based at the Hangzhou Plant.
