Position Brand Description:  

The Global Logistics organization is implementing a platform (Digital Logistics) which will provide supply chain visibility to/from our internal and external partners.  This global platform consists of many different tools and systems – SAP, Transportation Management System (TMS), 4PL/Control Tower, End-to-End Visibility, PowerBI reporting, etc. This position will work with business partners to understand requirements and drive successful implementation.  

Specifically, this role will be the global business implementation lead for all sites regarding Transportation Management System (TMS).  This includes influencing business processes, project resources, implementation timelines, communication, governance models, master data management, data integrity and data management.  This role will work within a cross-functional implementation team to align system capabilities and business needs.  The creation of reports and dashboards and maintenance of existing dashboards is critical as well. 
 

This overall Digital Logistics platform will drive cost savings for the company through improved customer service, operational excellence, technology application and organizational design.  

Key Objectives/Deliverables:  

  • Business lead of the global Transformation Management System.  Understand business processes, application of TM solution to deliver those processes, work with design/implementation team to successfully deliver global rollout.  This role will focus on all aspects of the Transportation Management Solution including Transportation Planning (TP), Transportation Execution (TE), and Transportation Cost Management (TCM), Unified Package Builder (UPB), Empty Bookings, Forwarding Orders, and eventually Freight Settlement, Strategic Freight Procurement, Dock Appointment Scheduling, Business Network for Logistics.  

  • Work with key business and cross-functional partners (internal/external) to identify business problems, set direction through formation of a strategic Digital Logistics roadmap and then evolve the global design with appropriate solutions to meet business needs with respect to logistics optimization.  Gain a broad understanding of the various SAP products in the Digital Supply Chain portfolio and the other non-SAP solutions that integrate to drive the end-to-end supply chain operations at Lilly. 

  • Work with internal and external partners (e.g. logistics service providers, integration providers) to integrate external data and visibility systems with Lillys Digital Logistics platform in support of TMS integration. 

  • Develop a deep understanding of warehousing, shipping, and distribution activities throughout internal and external global operations.   Utilize this understanding of logistics business processes, and their changing/growing interactions to anticipate short term and future needs.   Additionally, benchmark with peer companies to recognize best practices and strategic changes within the industry. 

  • Continuous improvement of new and existing platform elements – TMS, shipment tracking, logistics asset utilization, financial analysis/reporting, transportation performance, etc. 

  • Support the analytics team in India (Lilly Capability Center India) by providing prioritization, standardization, business knowledge, and best practices. 

  • Provide recommendations and actions for the broader Global Logistics function - including strategy design, issue escalation, best practices, logistics metrics, organizational design and logistics standards. 

  • Deliver platform projects (i.e. End-to-End Visibility, 4PL, Control Tower) - apply robust project management, effective governance, monitor progress, mitigate timeline risks, and conduct lessons learned, as appropriate.   

Basic Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or equivalent professional experience in supply chain or logistics 

  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain or logistics 

 

Additional Preferences:  

  • Experience implementing and maintaining Transportation Management Systems, 4PL, Control Tower, and End-to-End Visibility 

  • Ability to take long term strategic plan and break it into shorter programs and projects. 

  • Ability to influence others to adopt different point of view or concept 

  • Must have demonstrated ability to have a global view. 

  • Knowledge of the applications and other IT Tools within the logistics area 

  • Demonstrated ability to establish key relationships with those outside of the immediate business area. 

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and influence integration points with other business areas, processes, functions. 

  • Excellent initiative and self-management skills as well as ability to lead teams, influence others and manage conflict. 

  • Significant understanding of distribution, shipping, and warehousing operations. 

  • Cross functional experience in areas such as Engineering and IT. 

  • Lean Six Sigma experience. 

  • International project experience. 

Other Information:  

  • International travel may be required 

  • This role requires the individual to be onsite in Indianapolis, IN at least 4 days per week

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$122,250 - $179,300

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
