Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$64,500 - $167,200The Automation Engineer for the Parenteral area at the RTP site will provide technical knowledge and automation support for related control systems and software defined infrastructure for Autoclaves, Parts Washers, Formulation, Filling and Inspection equipment and systems. This position will work with the system integrators and support the asset delivery, commissioning, qualification, validation, and start-up of the equipment in the Parenteral manufacturing area. The automation engineer role will ensure successful commissioning, including automation test execution and close-out activities, and drive automation governance and replication across the Global Parenteral Network. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and project managers, to implement and support automation solutions
Position Description:
Specifically, this role will entail the following scope:
- Work safely and continually look for improvements in personnel and equipment safety, ensure safe design and operation of new equipment, ensure automation design reflects safety concerns for operations and maintenance
- Provide technical knowledge and prepare technical documents in identifying automation issues and resolution, including all compliance aspects such as change control, deviation investigation, and corrective and preventive action
- Execute, review, and provide technical automation guidance to project C&Q/Verification teams to ensure on-time delivery of project design and qualification documents
- Provide clear documentation for delivered solutions and processes; work closely with system SMEs and site Quality while supporting computerized systems verification processes in a GxP environment
- Must be able to execute work independently, work with various support teams across the organization, and oversee and lead activities to ensure that automated cGMP equipment, facilities, and utilities perform as intended
- Provide technical support for troubleshooting, improving, or optimizing ongoing manufacturing operations, including on-call support after hours, on-site and remote
- Obtain deep knowledge of Rockwell Automation Platforms, including Studio 5000 Logix, FT Batch, FT View Studio SE
- Utilize site tools for automation assets monitoring and improvement
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering
- Minimum 2 years of experience in automation machine control, process control, or equivalent work experience in a related field
Additional skills:
- Demonstrated ability to work safely
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more automation platforms, preferably Rockwell Automation Systems
- Significant experience and strong problem-solving skills in measurements, control (process and/or manufacturing), control systems, integration, and data
- Previous experience with deviation and change management systems including Trackwise
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of GMP and pharmaceutical manufacturing
- Knowledge in Databases
- Experience with OSI PI historian
Additional Information:
- Expectation that the position will be onsite based out of Durham, North Carolina.
- 8-hour days - Monday through Friday, overtime and some weekend/holiday may be required for project support.
- Travel: Domestic and International travel may be required, 15%.
