The Marketing Communications Senior Manager is an experienced brand communications and public relations expert and content creator.  They support the development and implementation of strategic communications for the company’s lines of business, shared services departments, and parent company requirements. This role partners with business leaders to identify broad communication needs, develop message strategies and lead the creation of multi-channel communication campaigns and materials. As a member of Empowers newsroom, this role integrates data, content and PR to grow our business, generate press and write and distribute content to help people transform their financial lives. This role oversees agency relationships and joins forces across all marketing, data and product functions to drive the company’s messaging and earned leads.   Key partners include the in-house media, creative, and sales teams. 

What you will do:

  • Create and collaborate on communications and PR campaigns that build our brand and drive leads
  • Collaborate to create annual communications plans aligned with business initiatives, marketing objectives and broader firm and parent company goals
  • Write compelling content, press releases, and thought leadership for our digital and social channels that elevate and differentiate our product and service offerings
  • Develop and execute communication plans for companywide business initiatives. This includes writing, editing, and reviewing a range of communications
  • Support outbound press pitching efforts and field in-bound media inquiries 
  • Serve as a primary contact for agency relationships including PR and SEO partners to optimize content that matters to our audiences
  • Develop key messaging and press briefings to support our spokespeople
  • Build relationships with influencers, affiliate program leads, and press contacts
  • Manage content pipeline: coordination with freelance writers, ensuring timely execution of content calendar
  • Be savvy to “trendjacking” opportunities and monitor media trends and news

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English or Communications, or equivalent experience:
  • 7+ years of corporate communications or marketing experience
  • Financial services industry knowledge valued but not required
  • Leadership and strategic planning skills

What will set you apart:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to advocate for ideas and influence others
  • Knowledge of AP style preferred
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Must be highly motivated, detail- and deadline-oriented, adaptable, and creative

Base Salary Range

$109,600.00 - $158,950.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
