Salary Range:
$131,000.00 - $170,000.00What’s the role?
As the Senior Content Strategist, App Engagement, you will lead the evolution of the BOE app content experience to drive deeper engagement and increased visit frequency through habit-forming content that inspires shoppers and brings our brand to life. You will co-develop and drive content strategy for our revamped buyer app experience—collaborating closely with UX, Product Design, and Merchandising partners to produce engaging content that fuels discovery and brings people back to the BOE app every day—and support additional priority content strategy workstreams across platforms as needed.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Manager, Buyer Content Strategy. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.
This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. This role sits on the Brand Copy & Editorial Team. Part of the larger Etsy Brand Content Team, our team inspires action through strategic storytelling. We’re Etsy’s voice, bringing the brand to life throughout priority below-the-line buyer initiatives and product surfaces, and driving engagement with compelling, best-in-class content. We introduce buyers to the best of Etsy and our incredible creative community, and give them reasons to come back and shop day after day.
What does the day-to-day look like?
Partner closely with Research, Product, Design, Merchandising, and UX teams to develop, test, and iterate on a data-driven and brand-aligned content strategy for the Etsy app.
Establish foundational principles, processes, and best practices for an integrated and cross-functional app content strategy that drive efficiency and impact.
Lead implementation of app content strategy, creating content calendars in partnership with Merchandising and Marketing partners, and identifying and innovating opportunities for scaling content from our buyers, sellers, AI, and in-house content team. Write and/or edit copy for priority app surfaces and corresponding web surfaces as needed.
Develop and implement comprehensive framework for measuring content strategy performance, proactively surfacing data-driven recommendations to partners and evolving approach to speed innovation and drive progress with a growth mindset.
Partner with channels and copy leads to align programming across onsite and offsite touchpoints and help inform app marketing efforts tied to content strategy.
Monitor industry trends and news across the app content landscape and surface new ideas to drive future growth.
Champion Etsy’s Brand Positioning, Creative Platform, and TOV across Buyer Marketing and Product initiatives and represent department in cross-org initiatives.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
5+ years experience in content strategy, preferably in an e-commerce, app-first environment
Excellent copywriting skills and editorial judgment, with an ability to prioritize both style and substance
Self-starter with a passion for developing and evolving net-new processes and workflows in a fast-paced environment
Expert knowledge of the e-commerce consumer app landscape, and a passion for mobile-first content development
A strong track record of collaborating with product managers, product designers, product marketing managers, researchers, and data analysts to build exceptional product experiences, from vision to launch to iteration
Strategic thinker with a strong bias for action, a can-do attitude, and does not shy away from responsibility
Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, and confidence to ask probing questions of yourself and others in service of improving the customer experience
Confidence in acquiring data to inform content and copy decisions, leveraging research and user testing to validate decisions as needed
