We are seeking a skilled Quality Assurance Engineer to join our EverCommerce Payments team, a leading provider of payment management solutions for over 20,000 SMBs. Our APIs and SaaS products enable seamless payment acceptance, ecommerce, mobile, and point-of-sale solutions tailored to the needs of service-based businesses.
As a QA Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless functioning of high-performance horizontal payment solutions that power multiple EverCommerce products. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will identify issues and test solutions for payment processing systems that simplify and empower our customers businesses. You are detail oriented, have a rigorous approach to testing software, and take it personally when issues are released to production. You are passionate about problem-solving, continuous learning, and staying ahead of technological trends, making you a key contributor to our innovation-driven team.
Responsibilities:
- Test Design & Execution: Develop, document, and execute test cases for payment gateways, integrations, transaction systems, and related features.
- Functional & Non-functional Testing: Perform manual and automated testing to ensure the quality and accuracy of payment solutions, including functional, regression, performance, and security testing.
- Payment Gateway Testing: Ensure compatibility and integration of various payment methods such as credit/debit cards, digital wallets, bank transfers, and alternative payment systems.
- API Testing: Validate payment APIs for proper functionality, ensuring they are secure and efficient.
- Security & Compliance Testing: Test payment systems to ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., PCI DSS, GDPR) and industry’s best practices. Report any potential vulnerabilities or risks.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with developers and product managers to understand payment processing requirements and ensure testing is aligned with the overall product strategy.
- Troubleshooting & Debugging: Investigate and identify payment issues reported by users, and work with technical teams to resolve them.
- Test Automation: Write and maintain automated tests for payment processing workflows and related features.
- Performance Testing: Ensure that the payment system can handle many concurrent transactions with optimal performance.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain clear documentation on test plans, test cases, issues, and results. Provide detailed feedback to stakeholders and development teams on the quality of payment-related systems.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the improvement of testing processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the QA process.
Skills and Experience needed for success in this role:
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance, with a strong focus on payments systems (e.g., payment gateways, card networks, transaction processing).
- Proficiency in testing methodologies (e.g., functional, regression, performance, security).
- Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Selenium).
- Strong understanding of payment processing systems, integration with third-party services (e.g., Stripe, PayPal, credit card networks), and APIs used in payment workflows.
- Experience with API testing (REST, SOAP).
- Familiarity with security standards (PCI DSS) and compliance testing.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL database testing.
- Experience with CI/CD tools and version control systems (e.g., TeamCity, Git).
- Experience with performance testing for payment systems.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Familiarity with programming/scripting languages (e.g., typescript, JavaScript) to enhance test automation capabilities.
- Knowledge of security testing related to payments (e.g., encryption, tokenization).
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to identify root causes and propose solutions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Where: This position is a remote/hybrid position located in the US or Canada.
The EverCommerce team is distributed globally, with teams in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Jordan, New Zealand, and Australia. With a widely distributed team, we are used to working remotely across different time zones. This role can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada – if you’re close to one of our offices, we can set you up in-office or you can work 100% remotely. Please note that you must be eligible to work without sponsorship to qualify for this position, and this role may require travel to our Corporate Headquarters in Denver, Colorado, or to other office locations around North America.

Compensation: The target base compensation for this position is $80,000 to $110,000 USD per year in most US locations. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including location, local market variances, and candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
