Position Overview

The Bioinformatician II is responsible for providing bioinformatics solutions to challenging data analysis problems in genetic testing. This will involve analysis of next-generation sequencing data, especially exome data.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy software tools or algorithms to process next-generation sequencing data.
  • Develop new algorithms and statistics.
  • Interpret data artifacts.
  • Assist with design experiments and perform validations.
  • Assist in developing validations of new software and laboratory procedures.
  • Support all users of Bioinformatics systems, including occasional off-hour support.
  • Create and maintain necessary documentation for regulatory compliance.
  • Follow established procedures, best practices and CAP/CLIA guidelines
  • Stay current in bioinformatics techniques and technologies through professional reading, technical training, and conferences.
  • Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Apply excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or field as outlined in the essential duties.
  • 4+ years of experience with Next Generation Sequencing data.
  • 4+ years of analysis using bioinformatics tools.
  • Proficient with relational databases, such as SQL Server and MySQL.
  • Proficient in pipeline development.
  • Proficient in HPC Support and maintenance.
  • Thorough knowledge of common bioinformatic tools, such as BWA, Bowtie, Bowtie2, GATK, SnpEff, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or field as outlined in the essential duties.

Salary Range:

$77,000.00 - $121,000.00

 

The annual base salary shown is a national range for this position on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually.
