Position Summary
This position is for a Sr engineering manager in F5 BIG-IP product team. This role will empower engineers, recruit, hire and mentor their directs while also acting as a coach/guide, provide feedback to help their group of engineers grow, and expand their professional development. The position will need to outline expectations, support your directs in your team, offer support and assistance where necessary for them to succeed in their job.
Primary Responsibilities
- Act as an advisor and coach to directs on their work and team dynamics
- Performance manage directs to enable engineers to operate at their highest potential
- Sourcing, interviewing and hiring candidates for open positions, onboarding, guidance to staff, conducting performance evaluations, developing performance improvement plans, and taking corrective action as needed.
- Be knowledgeable and a point of contact for product vision, goals, and process.
- Align engineers to the corporate and oraganization’s strategy, focus on customer use cases, experience and quality
- Recommend changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization(s).
- Evaluates and reviews new technologies on their applicability to product architecture and design.
- Model F5 Behaviors and Agile principles
- Collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced high-performance environment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven track record and experience leading big engineering projects with 10+ member team
- Engineering and application delivery expertise
- Demonstrated ability to guide and coach engineers
- Demonstrated ability in mentoring and developing direct reports
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated excellence in written communications
- Experience managing both UI and backend projects.
- Knowledge of IP networking, DNS, routing protocols, IPsec VPNs, SSL, Firewalls, Nat, Proxies, HTTP/HTTPS proxies
- Knowledge of Kubernetes
- Duties are performed in F5 Seattle office with F5 return to office policy
Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other technical degree
- 8+ years software development experience
- 3+ years leading or managing a development team

The annual base pay for this position is: $175,728.00 - $263,592.00F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
