F5 is looking for a Software Engineer III – Kubernetes Networking to contribute towards F5’s cloud native BIG IP Next products. You would be responsible for contributing to F5’s Kubernetes based control-plane that is resilient, scalable and helps orchestrates cloud native AI applications, performing in-depth security impact analysis. This Control Plane provides a global, scalable, and secure way to deploy and manage applications to multiple tenants at the same time!
What You Will Do:
- Independently determine and develop approaches to solutions for assigned projects by identifying, resolving and mitigating risk and communicating to others
- Provide technical solutions to detail certain aspects of product design and ensures that resulting design specification fits into technical architectural framework.
- Perform analysis to define design requirements for modification to existing tools, utilities, system structures, environments and provide technical perspective for input into project scope and estimating activities
- Recommend and maintain technical design methodologies, processes and standards
- Provide technical mentorship to junior level engineers
- Assist Principal Engineers and Management with project scope
- Consistently meet commitments
- Assist with and drive customer solutions
- Participate in hiring and onboarding process
- Conducts presentations internally and externally
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent coding skills in Go or C/C++, Python etc.
- Proficiency in standard data structures and algorithms, run-time complexities, IPC, etc. is required.
- Proficiency in Kubernetes, CRDs, Helm, gRPC, CNI etc. is required
- Must have strong background in networking technologies & protocols like IP, TCP, UDP, DNS, HTTP etc.
- Experience developing applications in docker/container-based cloud environment
- Working knowledge of application deployment/orchestration using Kubernetes is desired
- Experience writing automated unit/functional tests
- Experience with gitlab/github or other source code management is needed.
- Outstanding problem solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with AWS and other cloud technologies is a plus
- Able to own various complex problems, collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced high-performance environment.
- Regularly demonstrates collaboration by promoting others’ ideas, working well within and other teams, influencing others, and making teams successful.
- Demonstrated leadership role within project team.
- Must be passionate and enjoy solving complex problems. This is a fast paced, innovative environment and requires candidate to grasp new technologies quickly. Often knowledge is self-taught as formal training in emerging technologies may not exist.
- Demonstrated excellence in written, interpersonal, and verbal communications. Regularly finds ways to communicate widely through discussions, white papers, publications and other. Willingness and ability to write good functional specification and design documents
Qualifications:
- BS degree with 5+ years of experience or Masters’ degree with 3+ years of experience in Computer Science or similar field
- Experienced with SaaS-based Multi-tenant systems.
- Hands on experience with one of the following programming languages: Golang, C++, Java.
- Good understanding of Linux OS security controls, Docker and Kubernetes Security Architecture, microservices.
- Experience reviewing software architecture and performing security impact analyses.
- Experience with access management on AWS, Google, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, GitHub, GitLab, etc.
- Experience in setting up CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Gitlab.
- Good understanding of complexities and security challenges in large-scale distributed systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The annual base pay for this position is: $140,909.00 - $211,363.00F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
