Position Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Principal Engineer to lead the design and development of DNS & GSLB for BIGIP Next, responsible for delivering and securing application traffic across diverse environments including on-premises, colocation facilities, cloud, and edge solutions. This role is pivotal in driving both tactical and strategic initiatives, integrating advanced technologies including Generative AI to enhance our DNS/GSLB capabilities. The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional technical leadership, mentoring abilities, and a vision for innovation that aligns with the companys long-term goals.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as the technical lead for DNS/GSLB modules/systems, guiding design and architecture decisions that align with organizational objectives
- Design and implement DNS/GSLB stack for all the product offerings.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Liaise with cross-functional teams, including Product Management and Customer Support, to ensure seamless delivery of product features and enhancements.
- Drive research efforts to explore new technologies and methodologies, translating findings into actionable design improvements and product enhancements.
- Act as a mentor for junior members of the team.
- Actively communicate technical concepts through discussions, white papers, and presentations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, which may include on-call responsibilities or travel as necessary (approximately 5%).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have strong DNS/GSLB expertise along with other L2-L7network protocols.
- Must be expert at C/C++/GO programming language.
- Well versed in cloud technology and deployment models, with a focus on scalability and performance.
- Expert in system programming, enabling efficient DNS/GSLB operations.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
- Knowledge and expertise in software engineering methodologies and practices for the full software development process, including coding standards, code reviews, build processes, CI/CD, testing, and operations.
- Strong ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment while effectively collaborating with diverse teams.
- Demonstrated excellence in all written communications, ensuring clarity and precision in technical documentation.
Qualifications:
Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 12 years with a Masters degree; or a PhD with 8 years of experience; or equivalent experience.

The annual base pay for this position is: $188,436.00 - $282,654.00F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
