About the Role:
In this role, you’ll report to the Head of Internal Controls and leverage your expertise to build, manage, and enhance internal control policies, procedures, compliance and governance. With a proven track record in large, complex organizations, you’ll help us create a robust internal controls environment that drives compliance and aligns with our business goals. Location:
This hybrid role requires on-site presence 3 days per week at one of our office locations in Chevy Chase, MD; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; or New York, NY.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Team Management:
Lead cross-functional collaboration to drive control and process design, ensure compliance with risk programs, and remediate identified control gaps.
Build and manage a dynamic team supporting internal controls design, compliance, and remediation.
Governance, Compliance, and Process Improvement:
Develop, maintain and implement policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls and meet regulatory requirements.
Conduct training sessions for employees to enhance internal controls awareness.
Collaborate with business leaders to update and standardize risk and control processes, identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation.
Support Head of Commercial and Specialty Lines Leader and her Leadership Team in risk and control concerns.
Collaboration and Alignment:
Partner with key stakeholders across business and corporate functions to ensure consistent internal control practices.
Regulatory Compliance and Representation:
Stay informed on financial regulations and industry standards.
Represent internal controls interests to the CFO, business leadership, Audit Committee, and auditors.
Communication and Presentation:
Prepare and present regular updates for stakeholders, clearly communicating risk events, issues, and control processes.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or business or relevant experience.
8 + years of expertise in internal controls and / or risk management.
Attention to detail, critical thinking and excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment with competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in finance or accounting (CPA, CFE, CIA, or relevant certifications preferred).
Proficiency in data analysis, forensic auditing, and data visualization tools.
Experience in internal controls or risk management in the insurance industry preferred.

Annual Salary
$143,000.00 - $224,000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
