We are looking for a Manager, Tax to join our finance team. This person is organized, detail-oriented, and must excel at managing a large and complex tax compliance calendar. This person is passionate about the type of work that Generate is doing and is looking to apply their experience to help scale a rapidly growing business.
What you will be doing at Generate Capital as the Manager, Tax:
Manage the tax compliance calendar for federal and state corporate tax filings, partnership tax filings, CA and NY LLC tax filings, and various other state and local tax fillings (alongside third-party tax preparers)
Prepare year end and quarterly tax provision calculations and ASC 740 disclosure
Prepare tax returns and supporting calculations for federal income tax, state income tax, local jurisdiction tax and informational filings
Maintain robust internal documentation of all tax matters
Oversee information flow between Generate and third-party service providers
Address tax notices and assist with tax examinations
General tax troubleshooting and support
Assist in tracking and managing the tax budget
Work alongside the Head of Tax and the Senior Manager, Tax in designing and building out our tax team
Review the tax implications of new and existing transactions
Review LLCAs and other legal documents for tax implications
You will also have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of tax areas in addition to the core functions listed above, as follows:
Corporate tax planning and structuring (including ITC and tax equity)
Partnership tax technical issues
International tax as Generate expands its global footprint
Candidate qualifications & core characteristics:
A demonstrated passion for, or commitment to, our mission
Minimum BS/BA in Accountancy and CPA license
5+ years’ combined experience at a Big 4 accounting firm / inhouse (some industry experience preferred)
Renewable energy / sustainable infrastructure experience a plus but not necessary
Extensive familiarity with corporate tax provisions (experience with partnership tax provision preferred)
Must be highly-organized and detail-oriented – there are a lot of moving parts at Generate
Experience with Subchapter K preferred
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including empathy, intuition, and listening
Excellent organizational and self-management capability
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team

Generate’s compensation packages are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Salary decisions take into account a wide variety of factors including, but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, geographic location, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is $140,000 -$180,000. In addition, the compensation package may include a discretionary bonus and other benefits, including health care benefits, retirement benefits, benefits permitting paid days off (including sick leave, parental leave, and paid time off or vacation benefits), and other benefits that must be reported for federal tax purposes. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of this range.
