The Opportunity
GrowthLoop is seeking a Controller to take ownership of the company’s accounting function and partner closely with the VP of Finance. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone eager to build rigor into our accounting operations and scale processes to support a high-growth SaaS business. The Controller will own all accounting tasks, from bookkeeping to complex M&A integration, while ensuring compliance and producing accurate monthly financial statements. This position will work directly with our external accounting firm to complete annual audits and tax filings, and will play a key role in driving efficiency with improved financial systems and processes.
What Youll Do
Accounting Operations
- Oversee all accounting tasks, including management of the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and monthly close processes.
- Manage the monthly reconciliation of all key accounts including P&L revenue, deferred revenue, deferred commissions, accruals, prepaids, and other key balance sheet accounts.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial statements and compliance with GAAP.
- Partner with external accounting firm to complete annual audits and tax filings.
- Drive improvements to internal financial controls, systems, and processes to scale with company growth.
Strategic Contributions
- Implement best practices for SaaS-specific accounting, including revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and commission expenses.
- Develop and maintain scalable processes for accurate and efficient financial reporting.
- Support M&A activities, including integration of acquired entities into accounting systems and processes.
Compliance and Reporting
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, including ASC 606, and industry best practices.
- Oversee state and local compliance for sales and use taxes, working with third-party advisors as needed.
What We Look For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA required.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting at a management level or higher, with at least 2 years in a SaaS or tech startup environment.
- Hands-on experience managing the full accounting cycle, including general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Proficiency in SaaS-specific accounting complexities, including revenue recognition and deferred revenue.
- Demonstrated ability to improve financial systems and implement scalable processes.
- Experience working with external auditors and managing audits and tax preparation from start to finish.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and compliance requirements.
- Self-starter with exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software; advanced Excel skills required.
- Proven ability to collaborate across teams and communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders effectively.
Compensation
The estimated salary for this role is $150,000-$175,000. This role also includes participation in our equity program as part of the total compensation package. Final base salary decisions will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, such as the individual’s performance, experience, and qualifications.
