The Infrastructure Costs team is responsible for the tools, automation, and guardrails to make HubSpot’s infrastructure run as cost effectively as possible. The HubSpot product is made up of over 10,000 individually deployable web services, background workers, scheduled jobs, and one-off tasks, and all running atop a mix of Kubernetes and Apache Mesos clusters, which makes effective cost projection, optimization, and attribution a wicked problem. The goal here is to give our engineering teams the power to make informed decisions about their infrastructure spend, and ultimately, automate those decisions away. Help us build a world where waste and cruft are automatically eliminated, and investments that result in a better experience for our customers (e.g. scaling up a cluster for more speed or better reliability) are identified and pursued.

On this team, you will:

  • Write sophisticated automation software to continuously optimize our resource purchasing in AWS.
  • Use Kafka and Spark to build a data pipeline for identifying and sampling costly activities in our infrastructure, and map these back to customers and features.
  • Work with tools like Redash and Athena to help HubSpotters understand high-level usage and costs of our compute, storage, and networking infrastructure.
  • Build tools and automation to help fellow engineering teams understand the cost of their computing footprint at HubSpot.

If some or most of these describe you, we should talk:

  • You’re a fast learner who runs towards the fire when there’s a problem
  • You’re passionate about building easy-to-use tools for other fellow developers
  • You have experience building and interacting with ETL pipelines
  • You have experience working with cloud providers like AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • You’ve managed instance reserves or committed use discounts in the past
