The Senior Learning Design Professional uses instructional design, cognitive psychology and adult learning theory to determine the appropriate solution to a knowledge or performance gap. The Senior Learning Design Professional work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.The Senior Learning Design Professional analyzes content, organizes content, designs solutions, and writes storyboards, scripts, performance support, mobile learning, and manuals. This person analyzes learning needs and partners with subject matter experts to provide input for course content. This person writes effective learning objectives and coordinates performance assessments to measure training effectiveness. This person ensures course materials are current and relevant to training needs. This person tracks and analyzes the training programs effectiveness by examining learners satisfaction levels, proficiency testing, and job performance improvement. This person provides instruction and guidance to Facilitators and knows how to use social media and collaborative tools to facilitate learning. This person plans, organizes, and develops training curriculum, materials, job performance aids and programs to meet specific training needs. This person uses consultative skills to commit projects, and conduct needs analysis with clients to determine whether learning solutions are necessary or relevant. This person begins to influence department’s strategy and makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components. Work is performed without direction. This person exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design and develop learning solutions for both new hire and existing associates to support role-based organizational needs
- Conduct needs analysis and use findings to develop learning solutions targeted to meet specific audience needs
- Use a disciplined instructional design approach to create meaningful, memorable learning experiences
- Select appropriate learning activities and methods to achieve objectives, and build those activities into a meaningful sequence
- Selects appropriate media for delivery (instructor-led training, e-learning, virtual, blended learning, etc.) to ensure learning needs are effectively and efficiently met
- Create high quality solutions that are creative, engaging, instructionally sound, complete, and accurately convey learning concepts
- Identify and validate content to be used in learning materials based on input from Operational business partners, such as subject matter experts or key performers
- Evaluate the success of learning solutions in terms of learning outcomes in collaboration with Operational metrics, performance change and business impact; identify trends and patterns in data
- Prepare facilitator support materials (i.e. power point slides, leader/facilitator guides, learning activities, evaluation tools, etc.) and conduct “train-the-trainer” sessions to ensure effective delivery and engaging learning experiences
- Manage annual course review process: establish project timelines, milestones and regularly communicate progress to stakeholder.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of experience with eLearning programs, and virtual learning solutions with a strong focus simulation & workflow development
- Minimum 2 years in a consumer facing role within a business
- Proficient in Adobe Captivate 8.0 (and above), Photoshop, Audition, Camtasia, Storyline, Assima, Articulate, and/or Salesforce
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong knowledge of eLearning standards and Adult Learning Theory
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Flexibility navigating change in a fast-paced environment
Work-At-Home Requirements
- At minimum, a download speed of 25 mbps and an upload speed of 10 mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested
- Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership
- Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
- Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
- Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience developing curriculum content
- Knowledge of United States healthcare landscape
- Proficiency designing virtual Instructor-Led training using WebEx
- Proficient project management skills
- Minimum 5 years in contact center learning and development for Fortune top 50 organization
- Minimum 3 years of facilitation experience with adult learners
- Experience developing and managing courses in a LMS
- Experience designing learning solutions for new software implementations
