The Senior Stars Technology Engineer partners closely with other teams in HQRI to understand data/IT needs. They work to solve complex business problems and issues using data or IT systems from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers. The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. They work with IT software engineering and test teams to drive products from design through completion to production release. Performs various engineering tests to verify and validate product designs. Supports product evaluation and qualification on leading edge technology components.

Location: strong preference for a candidate in driving distance to Louisville to work in office hybrid but open to remote nationwide

The technology needs of the Stars organization requires a team of business intelligence associates to provide business ownership of IT projects, function as liaison between vendors and Humana IT and to partner closely with business teams to understand data needs for programs/projects/campaign efforts to improve or sustain Humanas membership in 4 and 5 star plans.  The Senior Stars Technology Engineer collaborates closely with business teams to understand objectives. They will use technologies, applications and practices to collect, integrate, analyze, and present Stars related data that meets the objectives of the business’ strategy identified by the strategy owner.

  • Collaborate with individuals on a business team to understand the project objective, identify technology needs and create requirements for a technology solution

  • Work with an IT team to document and refine Agile stories

  • Work with the IT PM to establish milestones and delivery dates

  • Manage communication between IT and business on progress

  • Own all aspects of the solution (requirements, testing, business satisfaction, enhancements, etc.)

  • Manage multiple application/data “products” across multiple business teams

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree with 5+ years of experience with database and cloud technologies to develop applications that deliver business value OR Masters degree with 3+ years of experience with database and cloud technologies to develop applications that deliver business value

  • Experience with application development lifecycle (Waterfall, Agile, SAFe)

  • Experience with Oracle databases

  • Intermediate level ability to query data sets using SQL on Oracle, Microsoft, or Google platforms

  • Experience documenting business requirements as Agile stories in an Agile Methodology tool and collaborating with an IT team to groom/refine those stories to deliver projects on time w/quality

  • Advanced experience working with large, complex data sets within bigger organizations

  • Proficiency in understanding Healthcare related data

  • Must be able to lead peers, influence conversations, and confidently present ideas/information

  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication to senior and executive leadership

Role Desirables

  • Advanced Degree in a technical discipline (i.e. Computer Science, Engineering or related field)

  • Experience Azure, databricks and Google Cloud Platform

  • Advanced skillset in SQL (PL/SQL, TOAD, ASA, BigQuery, SnowFlake and other data systems)

  • Experience with tools such as PowerBi and PowerApp for creating data visualizations

  • Expertise with FHIR, software development, and/or predictive modeling

  • Experience creating data feeds for various healthcare sectors

  • Experience with Medicare Stars measures

Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to HIPAA information.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$89,000 - $121,400 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
