The Senior Data Scientist role is responsible for research and development of global analytics and data science initiatives, according to Insulet’s data analytics strategy. Working with the senior analytics technical team and the Sr Manager, Analytics COE, you will develop a deep understanding of multiple datasets across the organization, and create tools and processes to transform data into insights with subject matter experts. You will mentor other Data Scientists and Associate Data Scientists in the Analytics COE, and collaborate with external stakeholders in R&D, clinical, marketing, manufacturing, life cycle engineering, and others, to drive research projects and algorithms that make a meaningful impact on patients’ lives. You will innovate machine learning and statistical techniques to solve priority goals that will truly impact the business or improve the patient experience. Responsibilities:
- Work with IT and cross functional teams to identify data sources, design data ingestion, clean up, and pre-processing scripts as needed.
- Leverage cloud computing technologies for automated machine learning and analytics pipelines, such as Azure, AWS, GCP, Databricks, etc.
- Ensure adoption of best-in-class data science techniques and frameworks
- Socialize and oversee data validation and integrity practices
- Explore data patterns using existing data science tools and self-created programs.
- Perform statistical analysis, predictive modeling, deploy models, and generate automated reporting as required.
- Develop and implement algorithms for insulin pump therapy optimization, next generation artificial pancreas insulin control, and for other functional areas (Marketing, Manufacturing, R&D,…)
- Ownership of formulating, researching, and implementing new ideas and business opportunities leveraging Insulet’s collection of datasets and real word data.
- Clearly communicate validated findings to a broad audience, in relation to business objectives.
- Oversee the activities of junior engineers/data scientists.
- Ensure proper execution of activities and projects with the alignment on business’s overall vision and objectives
- Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 6 years of work experience in data science or machine learning, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a closely related field is required.
- At least 4 years of work experience in data science or machine learning, and a Master’s degree, or a Doctorate in Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a closely related field is required.
- Experiences in medical device or healthcare industries is desirable.
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
- Goal-driven mentality
- Experience in Python, Spark
- Proven experience in building and delivering end to end data science solutions
- Additional experience in more analytic software tools, such as R, Matlab, is a plus
- Demonstrated proficiency in SQL and one or more relational databases, such as Oracle, Teradata, Microsoft SQL Server, etc
- Knowledge of diabetes pathophysiology, insulin signaling, and/or human physiology
- Knowledge in non-relational databases (MongoDB) is a plus
- Experience in Business Intelligence tools, such as Spotfire, Tableau, Cognos.
- Demonstrated knowledge of software engineering principles and practices.
- Ability to work independently without detailed guidance, while maintaining effective communications with leaders and stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate effectively and document objectives and procedures.
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional travel to scientific conferences

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $133,650.00 - $200,475.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
