Position Overview:
Insulet provides a fast paced and energetic work environment, where team members develop innovative, customer-focused drug delivery products aimed at meaningfully improving quality of life for those afflicted with chronic diseases. 
We seek an engaged thinker with exceptional communication skills who can independently pursue a variety of tasks as part of an interdisciplinary team. This team member will serve as an individual contributor on the R&D team, focused on the design, development, and test of the electronics in low power RF-controlled wearable medical devices for infusion pump systems. Execution to schedule with high quality deliverables is key to success
Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical leadership in the design and development of high-volume, low-power embedded electronics and electromechanical systems 

  • Frequently contributes to the development of new theories, methods, and intellectual property; employs extensive expertise as a generalist or specialist 

  • Develops and reviews complex schematics and PCB layouts, ensuring compliance with design standards 

  • Perform and oversee advanced testing and troubleshooting of electronic circuits, resolving EMI/EMC issues 

  • Lead the implementation of design controls, including risk management (DFMEA), requirements, and test plans 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs are optimized for high-volume production 

  • Lead and mentor junior engineers in best practices including design for manufacture and design for test of a high-volume product 

  • Contributes to deploying and improving Insulets application of relevant engineering tools 

  • Creates and meets schedules for complex projects with cross-functional dependencies 

  • Defines requirements for electronic systems, subsystems and components 

  • Performs other duties as required 

Required Skills and Competencies: 

  • Analog, digital, and mixed signal circuit analysis  

  • Familiarity with custom integrated circuits and in-depth simulation (Monte-Carlo, etc) preferred 

  • Expertise in low-power embedded systems and electromechanical components 

  • Advanced principles of design (Electromagnetic Compatibility, Electrostatic Discharge, RF) 

  • Bluetooth Low Energy design and test techniques preferred 

  • Experience with test protocol and report development, including knowledge of how to run engineering experiments in a lab environment 

  • Lab Equipment Proficiency (Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, Signal Generators, etc.) 

  • Office Software Proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 

  • Engineering Software Proficiency preferred (Cadence OrCAD, Cadence PCB Editor, Matlab, MathCAD, MiniTab) 

  • Highly ethical, responsible, and independent; demonstrates acceptance of responsibility and shows pride in work performed 

  • Self-starter, detail oriented, and effective verbal/written communicator  

  • Demonstrates flexibility in acceptance of assignments and schedules  

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and attention to detail 

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities 

Education and Experience: 
Minimum Requirements: 
Bachelor’s/Master’s/Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and 8+/6+/4+ years of relevant experience

  • The position is eligible for hybrid working arrangements, and requires on-site work at our Acton, Massachusetts headquarters at least 3 days per week. 

Additional Information:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $132,000.00 - $198,000.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
