The Platform Engineering Syndicate Goals
The consulting organization that you are leading is the very foundation of Kyndryl as a company. For 30 years, Kyndryl was the Infrastructure Managed Services part of IBM and for the last 3 we have helped clients manage their infrastructure on all of the major hypervisors (Azure, AWS, GCP, and Oracle) and on premise. Now they are turning to us to turn that infrastructure into platforms that serve their developers, data scientists, and customers. You will work with your team to advise on platform management strategies, turn technologies into business enabled platforms, connect infrastructure with other tools for platforms that can deploy entire environments, and find any way to make centralized IT more valuable to its consumers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Portfolio Management: The foundation of a good syndicate is a set of capabilities that can be delivered profitably to our customers. You need to be able to work with your service owners, read appropriate analyst materials, and collaborate with global portfolio management to create this list of capabilities. You need to work with your service owners and the global delivery centers to ensure that we are maintaining differentiated and profitable delivery for each capability. Finally, you need to recognize when it is time to move away from a capability.
- Market Alignment: With digital support, you will be responsible to serve up your syndicate’s capabilities to the markets in an effective way— translating use cases to how they can show up across industries. Your role is to consistently be in front of the markets representing your service owners and pushing to have yourself or your service owners attend meetings with appropriate stakeholders at the first meeting. Faster speed to consultant engagement is faster time to signing and revenue recognition.
- Pipeline Management: The Service Partner must understand the targets for their service owners and be able to identify gaps in the pipeline that are an exposure for missing those targets. You will also need to coach your service owners on how to keep good hygiene and discipline while tracking their opportunities.
- Sales Mentoring/Managing: Many of the service owners that you are mentoring will have come up through a consulting background and will be in the first job they’ve had that has a measurable sales quota. You will need to have a passion for motivating and explaining best practices to these employees as well as identifying opportunities to promote new service owners and performance manage low performers.
- Consultative Selling of Cloud Infrastructure & FinOps: This role isn’t all coaching! You will be in front of customers with your service owners and picking up your own customers when they are low on time. You need to have credibility with Cloud Infrastructure and/or FinOps so that you can represent it to your clients.
- Escalation Management and Relationship Building: In consulting delivery and sales, issues do happen. You will need to have a good relationship with both clients and internal account teams to be able to react when they do.

Required Skills
In order to fulfill all of these responsibilities, you will need to be a seasoned professional with subject matter expertise in Cloud Infrastructure & FinOps. You should apply for this job if you are confident that;
- You have the credibility to get clients to trust your judgement on how to advance their Platform Engineering initiatives.
- You have experience in Cloud Managed Services as either a provider or from inside a firm’s IT organization.
- You have sales (and ideally sales management) experience. You need to be familiar with how to do the following at a level that you can teach your Service Owners how to; manage a pipeline and run cadence, prospect new and existing clients, mature deals, qualify rfps, set targets and measure attainment, provide executive assurance to customers, and interview/hire consulting leaders.
- Your entrepreneurial spirit and perseverance will guide you through the hard work and attention to detail required to build a consulting practice in Kyndryl.
The compensation range for the position in the U.S. is $151,560 to $272,760 based on a full-time schedule. Your actual compensation may vary depending on your geography, job-related skills and experience. For part time roles, the compensation will be adjusted appropriately. The pay or salary range will not be below any applicable state, city or local minimum wage requirement.
There is a different applicable compensation range for the following work locations:
California:$166,680 to $327,240
Colorado: $151,560 to $272,760
New York City: $181,800 to $327,240
Washington: $166,680 to $300,120
Washington DC:$166,680 to $300,120
This position will be eligible for Kyndryl’s discretionary annual bonus program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Kyndryl’s applicable plans. You may also receive a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical and dental coverage, disability, retirement benefits, paid leave, and paid time off. Note: If this is a sales commission eligible role, you will be eligible to participate in a sales commission plan in lieu of the annual discretionary bonus program.
