As Maersk Air Freight continues with its ambitious growth trajectory, we are now searching for a Global Air Freight Pricing and Customer Profitability Manager. Although this role is being advertised in the Netherlands, the successful candidate can be based anywhere in Europe.

Purpose of the role

  • Contribute to the growth and success of Maersk Air Freight business by monitoring customer profitability and analysing data to identify opportunities for improvement and developing intelligent pricing and positioning strategies to maximize competitiveness, revenue and profitability.
  • Work closely with sales and procurement to ensure that products and services are aligned with customer requirements


What you’ll be doing: 

Drive Customer Profitability – continuous business improvement

  • Monthly and weekly monitoring of high impact customer volumes and profitability
  • Identify and action GP profitability initiatives on customer level in alignment with the regions
  • Provide structured reporting and insights on customer profitability, in alignment with Finance

Lead and direct global pricing team

  • Coach and develop individual team members; create continuous business improvement mindset
  • Team leadership: delegate, empower, lead the pricing team

Drive data-based insights to action, related to pricing activities

  • Responsible for customer profitability dashboards
  • Coordinate market dashboards related to pricing e.g. TAC index, WACD
  • Alignment of customer profitability data & insights across the regions

Articulate selling rates and strategy with Regions

  • Responsible for global Pricing Framework & Process management
  • Approve pricing strategy deviations in alignment with Regional Heads of Airfreight
  • Coordinate global alignment on airfreight surcharges & ancilliary revenue (including material codes)

Drive profitable RFQ strategies in alignment with GtM team

  • Lead business review of Global high impact RFQ reviews
  • Interface with Global Tender Management team (Define RFQ strategy / rates levels / where to play) 
  • Ensure close alignment with region pricing & procurement leads, to drive best possible competitive cost input

Coordinate sell rates repository

  • Coordinate Maersk AirFreight Pricing repository: MAPS process and Athena
  • Define global margin settings and set-up selling rates for Maersk.com and sales

Manage key interfaces with organizational stakeholders

  • Support region/area organisations with Airfreight pricing expertise
  • Commercial: Build business relationships with Key Account managers for high impact accounts

To succeed in this role, we believe that you can offer: 

  • 10+ years of industry specific experience
  • Strong operational background – preferable in gateway handling
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization
  • Strong customer focus
  • Good interpersonal, communication and excellent negotiating skills
  • Ability to engage and link multiple parties across functions and geographies
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to understand and interpret performance data
  • Personality: passionate, result oriented, self-starter, well-structured, professional
